Freestyle Libre - Bleeding from sensor

Hi, I'm Type 1 and use the Sensor alongside Finger Blood tests. The sensor does not test blood, but interstitial fluid, so no real chance of clots causing problems. I've had the sensors since they were first available on prescription, so about 5 and a half years. Only had blood come out of it...

Five-hour fat effect from Spaghetti Bolognese

This is probably really common, and nobody talks about it. As soon as I started on the Freestyle Libre system a few years back, I realised just how long it took bread to get into my system. Since then, Pasta and chips have been added to the list as well. Also, if I eat "Fatty" meatss...

    Car hypo treatment

I always keep Fruit Pastilles on my person. Even when past the best before date, they still retain shape, colour and taste, just sometimes get more sugary on the outside. Whatever works best for you is the thing to use.

    Things affecting Blood Sugar Levels.

Hi all. I've been T1D fo almost 40 years (20 years not well controlled), but now I have the Freestyle Libre, my control is improving. I have noticed a couple of food items that seem to affect my Blood Sugars more than others. I am on Fiasp insulin for bolus, and Lantus for Basal. I do not...

    Libre NHS criteria

In my area there are several criteria you have to conform to, but the most ridiculous one to me is my HbA1c has to be BELOW 58. Mine has been as high as 90+ in the past, and I have it down to mid 60's but it has to be lower (therefore under better control anyway) to get the piece of kit that...

How many carbs do you eat/prefer?

My Normal day used to consist of Breakfast 120g Lunch about 100g Tea between 80 and 150g Sometimes I had supper, up to 50g. I did work in a busy restaurant running around for 8 hours at a time, and since leaving have reduced tea and supper a little, as I am gaining a little weight, but if I...

    Type 1 - Daily carbs

Generally I have around 250-300 g of Carbs, but I am a waiter in a busy restaurant, and my weight hasn't altered in the last 7 or 8 years, except when I was in a cast for my Charcot Arthropathy. Put on about 5 kilos then, but had lost it within 4 weeks of being back at work.

How much does 10g of carbohydrate raise your bg level

It also says in the intro "assuming no other food or insulin on board." As diabetics, I would guess that most if not all of us have some insulin on board, either Basal or Bolus, when testing.

Need a little (or a lot) support.. Type 1 (it's a bit of an essay sorry!)

Hi AmyLH. I was diagnosed Type 1 when I was almost 7, 36 years ago. First few years I was well controlled, but when I went to Uni at 18, all control went out the window. My HbA1c was regularly in the 90's, and I didn't give a **** about my control, avoided doctors, and basically gave up on...
