What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Hi all, recent meals have consisted of: Pre-brekkie 6 am DP killer: - large spoonful of 100% almond paste (it might shave 0.5 mmols off the morning, so maybe room for improvement) Brekkie: - coffee with cream (trying to avoid the lattes even though they taste so much nicer with the Monin...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Do! It's certainly worth trying! For myself I've noted the contrast between how I feel after a LCHF meal (or simply a LC meal) and a HC meal (and certainly a high junk carb meal!!) I've noticed that (like everyone) I can tolerate certain carbs in certain quantities which has meant on occasion...

And the scary thing is that I've probably had it hundreds of times in the past without really paying attention. :-( With LCHF I don't get it, luckily.

A few suggestions are: Chinese five spice (to marinate the meat) toasted sesame seeds (heated in a dry frying pan) to sprinkle over at the end a little sesame oil to stir through at the end

I can relate to the rotten feeling, which I've had after a couple of restaurant meals involving bread (industrial burger buns and the like) and potatoes. It's almost like being drunk, I hate it.

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Yesterday: leftover beef stifado a few pork scratchings a selection of meats done on the plancha (the closest we can get to a barbecue on our balcony without everyone hating us) gin and diet tonic red wine I'm determined to try to combat my dawn phenomenon: as I'm generally awake from 5.30 am...

If you're stuck and don't need more than a couple of tablespoons of cream it might work to just leave a can of coconut milk in the fridge for a few hours (don't shake it before opening!) and separate the cream that has risen to the top. I'm not sure how much cream you'll get though.

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Hi, been away from the site for a while, hope everyone's doing okay! We're having work done to the flat and it's been a bit chaotic recently. Foodwise, there's a beef stifado (http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/624633/beef-stifado - it's heaven in a pot) simmering on the stove and home-made...

Morning! Yesterday: L: shop-bought chicken tikka pieces D: bit of a long drawn out apéritif with cured ham and saucisson sec. We were meant to then have cod with aubergine slices topped with passata, espelette pepper and mozzarella but we ended up just having the cod.

Nice tips! For me, courgettes are something that I'll grudgingly eat when mixed with other veg. They're not my favourite at all.

Yesterday: Lunch: lamb's lettuce with leftover chicken (shredded), and roquefort Dinner: salmon with ratatouille. I fried the courgettes in some leftover chicken fat in the hope of adding flavour to these bland veggies. Not sure whether it worked but the overall ratatouille was fine.

I'm terrible around milk and white chocolate, I'm capable of troughing family-sized bars or whole boxes of those but these truffles (which are very nice and I'll be making them again) are dark and not terribly sweet (I used 85% chocolate). I'd recommend them if you can control yourself around...

Low Carb on a tight budget

When I'm skint I like to plan meals in advance so that everything is accounted for. Work out the amount of protein you require daily, what that protein will be depending on what you like and what's good value, and then build up from there by including in-season vegetables, fats, etc. Be alert...

This is the recipe I used for the chicken gravy, which was very nice! I did it in a saucepan as I didn't have a roasting pan that would go on the gas. http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/julias-and-jacquess-deglazing-sauce-for-roast-chicken-102266
