Problems keeping bgl's steady after indulgent weekend.

Hi. I'm on both insulins but am very new to it all and very hesitant at the possibility of overcorrecting..but ending up way too high temporarily. I'm LADA, and at the moment only estimating (with professional guidance) as I'm still producing some insulin. I did a modest correction dose (my...

Problems keeping bgl's steady after indulgent weekend.

Thanks Sam. I think I'm ok. Just had a quiet evening and a very sensible day..things seem to be settling! It was just evening after evening..daughter's Formal evening, birthday, date night etc etc...soo difficult to navigate, especially when I love to party like everyone else!! Thank you.

Problems keeping bgl's steady after indulgent weekend.

Hi all! I normally have excellent bgl's with insulin and v low carb diet. Had a crazy weekend with multiple family celebrations etc etc that resulted in some v poor readings (highs). Since the weekend my bgl's haven't settled properly in spite of diet being 90% back to normal. Is this normal for...

Do They Always Test For Lada?

Hi, I'm in Australia so it may not be the same but this was my experience. ..diagnosed at 52 as Type 2 diabetic (quote "you're 52, it's type 2"gp)

    No carbs no sugar...day 1

Everyone needs some carbs. Just high quality low gi ones. I'd be very careful about cutting out all carbs..you need energy. Small pieces of fruit a couple of times a day should be fine. Good luck

    Stunned to be rediagnosed today

Thankyou. Yes i am indeed grateful that my Diabetic Educator (I'm in Oz) started getting suspicious before I got sick, and had enough of a hunch to order the tests. I'm seeing an endocrinologist next week so have had a week or so to get my head around what might be coming next. Appreciate...

    Stunned to be rediagnosed today

Thankyou. I'm gradually coming to terms with the fact that I'm likely to be on insulin soon. It also appears that the t2 Januvia meds that I've been on are actually detrimental to my condition, ehich was another blow! Trick few days. Thanks for your time .

    Stunned to be rediagnosed today

Thankyou for your thoughts.I have been getting increasingly frustrated that my efforts seem to get me nowhere. All's well when I'm active (most of the time as a busy music/dance teacher), but as soon as i rest my bs goes back up. I'm exhausted with trying , so maybe in the long run this will...

    Stunned to be rediagnosed today

6.7....but I've had to go onto higher medications in past 9 months to keep things right. It's been harder and harder ...and i guess we know why now, which is a small comfort as I'm big on self blame!

    Stunned to be rediagnosed today

Thankyou. I guess I've just got to accept that this has happened. .it's just the opposite to where i set out to be when diagnosed t2 2 years ago. I aimed to be off meds, losing weight quickly, getting fitter etcetc. Instead, i did all that and ended up on higher medications. ..then this. Bit of...

    Stunned to be rediagnosed today

Oh thankyou. Can't believe how similar our stories are! I've had nothing but support from my medical people as they know how hard I've worked (with normally great results). I just started getting higher morning readings which i couldn't control and my hbalc was nudging up, while i was working...

    Stunned to be rediagnosed today

Hi. No, i only got my results yesterday so am waiting on a referral to an endocrinologist. I have a great diabetic educator (I'm in oz) who picked this up. I guess I'm really knocked sideways as I'd really embreced being a t2 over the last 2 years and am now fitter and slim etc. Just feels v...

    Stunned to be rediagnosed today

Hi. I was diagnosed t2 in Jan 2016 and did really well. However in past few months it's been harder to keep sugars down in spite of doing pretty much everything by the book.My diabetic educator got suspicious and asked for GAD tests. Hey presto, my gp just told me it looks like type 1a after...

Yep, that's a very fair assessment and actually great not to have to wait too long for medical attention.

    Good and bad results

Hi kevin. Yes, nothing like the US thank goodness. We have Medicare, which is the public system. It's like the NHS but you often have to pay a contribution on top of what the Government chips in towards x rays, seeing docs etc. Not too bad I suppose and you never really have to wait to see a...

    Good and bad results

That's interesting thanks. I've decided that I'm pretty much going to insist on giving it several more months before starting medication as my overall health is really good now.
