    T2 - In which way?

I would like to know this too. i've just started metformin, but if that along with carb control and exercise doesn't lower my BG enough and my DN wants to add in other meds, surely it would make sense to know whether the pancreas is still producing a decent amount of insulin or not. If the...

I am desperate to stop smoking

well done Dolly. It really does get easier, especially once you notice that the benefits are outweighing the bad bits. Go for a walk in the fresh air and notice how much better your sense of smell is, and how much easier it is to breathe :)

I am desperate to stop smoking

I kind of felt the same as you Sue. I found this very helpful in changing that mindset. (just remove the space between the // and the whyquit to go there) whyquit.com/joel/Joel_02_01_my_cig_my_friend.html

I am desperate to stop smoking

I would dispute this. Pretty well everyone who smokes is dependent on nicotine to some extent, however much they might want to believe otherwise. Nicotine withdrawal is unpleasant, but it will not kill you, and there's no reason why anybody, however much they smoke, can't stop - if they WANT to...

    Another confused person

I've had that shaky, irritable, sweaty, confused, relieved-by-sugar feeling most of my life. I used to be a student nurse so could measure my BG on the ward. It would regularly drop to below 3 mmol/l and on one occasion it was 1.3 (although I'm sure this must have been a fault with the machine)...

hiya, I am in a similar position to you having only been diagnosed the other week. This is the info that Sue and/or Ken, the forum monitors usually give to new type 2's. I personally don't eat muesli or any grain based food at the moment, as i imagine even the "no added sugar" varieties are...

    a bit confused

I just had my first "normal" reading since diagnosis - after a run this morning and a treat of bacon and egg for lunch, my 2hr post-meal reading was 6.9 :D I'm so chuffed, it's hard to make myself do the exercise when I feel tired a lot of the time but seeing results is motivating. i've lost...

    a bit confused

hey Carl thanks for your reply, it's encouraging to hear I am roughly on the right track. Maybe I'll try the same meal another day but without the potato, and see what the difference is. Hopefully I can refine my food list over the next couple of months. Those sugar free jellies are pretty good...

    a bit confused

hi all This is my first post. I found out I had T2 around 2 weeks ago by chance, when I went to get my cholesterol checked. My fasting BG was 14. I got in to see the diabetic nurse within 5 days. She wanted to put me on metformin but I said I would prefer to try diet and exercise first. I also...
