how can I improve my control?

Yes, that's what I think I will do. Especially useful when I do the night time Salford diabetes thing in the first reply I had...let's face it...it will be my dh who needs to set the alarm and wake me every 2 hours and using libre he can scan me and turn over! (I would prob sleep through any...

how can I improve my control?

I'm nearly half way through the book atm and finding it interesting. How did your basal levels change? A cgm would def help if I embark on this. I need to figure out the UK versions of some of the foods he suggests...and I'm not keen on eating foods with artificial flavours and sweeteners...

how can I improve my control?

yes, activity helps so much! usually I find after a physical time my bg is better for a couple of days...so if I'm more physical every day it's good. Right, so I'm looking into getting a cgm now...in the UK we don't get them on the NHS as too expensive...even though losing a limb would be more...

how can I improve my control?

thx @Juicyj that's a good plan...one that kind of skipped through my mind recently. It;s useful info about testing 2 hourly because I may have only done one in the night. I'm going to do it. I totally agree, getting the basal right is so important which is why I can't understand my consultant...

how can I improve my control?

Please let me know if I should post this elsewhere... I've had t1 for 28years. Currently using levemir am 9u and pm 8u, and humalog 1u to 10g carbs. HbA1c running just around 7.8% but it has come down since I had my gall bladder out and I've been more physical - I hope this continues to...

    31 weeks and worrying

Don't feel guilt...it takes away your energy that could be better used elsewhere. If you had planned this pregnancy you would have done differently. Do the best you can each day - that is all we can do. Find some positives to push away the negative stories...you are writing your own...

    31 weeks and worrying

Hi Jemz24, I have had 3 babies. First wasn't planned as such so I probably started taking folic acid after I knew, the other two I was more clued up about diabetes and pregnancy and found it all easier. Interestingly, my diabetes team didn't discuss pregnancy until I was married! only said...

LCHF diet for type 1's and cholesterol

ok, yes, I can understand why they may worry. I have had my gall bladder removed now so I wouldn't want to take a high fat diet, but I am picky about the fats I do use. I've not actually had any suggestions or guidance about eating fats since I had it out as it happens. One thing I have read...

LCHF diet for type 1's and cholesterol

thx for answering. I recently adjusted my basal and feel so much better which means I am thinking about other diabetes related things more clearly again. I wasn't planning on stuffing myself with a load of fat and I am quite mindful of what I do eat...I really would like to avoid statins and...

LCHF diet for type 1's and cholesterol

EVOO? gobs? I'm happy with my fats really, I am pretty careful with my food and wasn't planning on increasing my fats particularly, it was lowering carbs I guess I'm thinking of mostly. Recently I have cut out at much wheat as possible (nothing to do with diabetes, just that I felt it can be...

LCHF diet for type 1's and cholesterol

there is so much info here about LCHF but a lot seems to point to type 2 - I haven't read everything btw! what are the best links for looking into things further? I have wondered whether to speak with my dietician about this but I have a feeling I need to be up to speed with this first! I've...

    Type 1 Continuous Glucose Monitoring

ok, thanks...that makes more sense now :) when you scan do you get date for the previous ?? minutes/hours, or just at that time? Yes, the arm seems a much more sensible place and would probably not need the extra plaster over it - I think that is what was bothering my skin so much. My clinic...

    Type 1 Continuous Glucose Monitoring

Hi, what is FGM? I just saw an advert for a Libre and notice that the sensors cost just under £60 - ouch! I recently had a sensor on for 5 days via my diabetes clinic and by day 5 I really just wanted to rip the plaster off! maybe it could have been situated in a berter place than the back of...
