Type 2 probably going on insulin

I recently went onto Insulin after 15 years of diet and meds to control my T2. I had been dreading it, but actually i've found it to be really OK. I'm on Humulin M3 once before breakfast and again before dinner and my numbers are now constantly in single figures. Prior to this, I was running at...

Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

Just had my results back, and the receptionist tells me its 42 mmol/L , and thats normal!!! There was no-one else to speak to, so I'm thinking its 42 - but on the convertor that puts it at 2.3. Should I demand a recount as I'm seriously confused? I have been on a low carb diet since...

    Low Carb Recipes

I had to pop to Sainsburys at lunchtime today, and came across a tin of Baxters Luxury Soup - Beef Consume. It only has 2g of carbs for the whole tin!! :D. So, tonight I made up some almond flour pancakes and had the whole tim to myself!! It's a thin soup, but made with sherry and has a really...

Re: Type 2's : What was your fasting blood glucose in a morn Being a type 2, and not taking it too seriously, I was properly told off by the GP on Wed, so started the low carb regime. This mornings reading was the lowest ever, at 8.2 and currently down to 6.7. Feel a bit light headed, but I...

    Don't like Cauli or Courgettes!

So, after a telling off from my GP this morning, I need to get serious about reducing my BG, and I think low carb is the way to go, but, as in my title, I really cant stand the flavour of Cauliflower, and can only just eat courgettes in small doses. Any ideas as to what else I can uses to go...

    New NHS guidelines???

I've been type 2 for 6 years and my bg's go up and down. I've always had Aviva test strips on presciption and test 2 or 3 times a day, depending. Anyway, a call to the surgery this morning to enquire why there are no strips in my 2 months worth of medication, and I'm told "New NHS guidelines say...

    Metformin tablets

Mike, I've been there, just a few months ago! I feel your pain :( 3 weeks ago I switched to a low carb (30g perday) diet and seen my sugars fall from a norm of 14+ to a norm of 6. I still get a high reading first thing (darn liver...) of about 9.0, but before lunch and dinner it's about 5.8 /...
