    A bit confused

Interesting. I’m fairly similar to you I think. Pancreatitis twice etc. I am a type 2 on insulin and I weighed in at 14.3. I stay around 25 carbs daily. Since September I have been losing weight slowly and am now just over 11 stone. Moderately active, I would say. I eat up to 1400 calories a...

    Type 2 on basal insulin

I really don’t use the bolus, Novorapid, unless I go over 25 carbs by an appreciable amount. So I’m just talking about the time, just using a basal, Lantus, that it takes my body to get back to a “normal for me” reading after a meal. I eat around 6 and have a reading of, say, 4.6 just before I...

Yes, I have novorapid but rarely need to use it as we aren’t eating out during lockdown

    Type 2 on basal insulin

One forxiga tablet every morning. I only take 12 units of Lantus daily. If I have a meal with starchy carbs (rare) or sugar (also rare) I calculate and use a bolus to control that intake

    Type 2 on basal insulin

I understand they aren’t high and my last hba1c was 43 which is fine and this time should be lower. It’s the length of time it’s taking to get back down as I thought it should be back to “normal” within a couple of hours, which for me is around 5.3. Any ideas?

    Type 2 on basal insulin

I have been low carbing for 3 years (generally under 25 carbs daily). It’s certainly cut my dose of insulin down! But before my evening meal, I was 4.6 mmol, I had approx 15 carbs and 500 calories, but 4.5 hours later I was still 6.8 but this morning back to 4.6. Am I eating too many carbs at...

    Travelling With Insulin

Thank you and yes, I can take 6 pens in my two frio bags but I’m going for nearly four months which could be 60 pens (still trying to work out how many to take exactly)! And I shall be away from refrigeration for at least 32 hours from home to New Zealand. All ideas will be welcome.

    Travelling With Insulin

I have to take 4 months’ worth of insulin on a long haul flight and with travel from home, I won’t be able to refrigerate for about 32 hours. Does anyone know whether Singapore Airlines will refrigerate for me during the flight, or would the insulin be ok just in hand luggage? Thank you.
