T2 no meds, gardening and high bg???? please help

Hi All. Please do any of you know why this happened? My fasting BGs have been quite good (I think) ranging from 5.4 - 5.9 since being diagnosed 8 weeks ago and following a strict low carb high fat diet and exercise. Not on any medication. It is my day off today ... got up at 9.45 had coffee...

    Da h*ll??

Can I just ask ... the dawn phenomenon may be giving me higher fasting readings, but I am worried that this will cause my averages to increase and give me a not so improved HbA1c - will it make very much difference? I am due my first review of HbA1c in July and desperately want it to have come...

BG on the rise - please help

Ah yes I have noticed it tends to be my best. Will pay more attention to the evening meal rise. I must admit I have not been checking that whilst eating similar foods, only when trying out new stuff.

BG on the rise - please help

Typical! another reason for wanting to get out of nursing heehee. When you say drink do you mean alcohol ... if so I had one shot of neat whisky on Saturday (nothing else during week), I drink quite a bit of coffee of an evening with a splash of semi skimmed milk (this has replaced my bottle of...

BG on the rise - please help

Thank you that is really reassuring for me as I had a bit of a battle with the GP to let me try diet and exercise for three months without any medication.

BG on the rise - please help

Thank you, I must admit to becoming a little obsessed with the fasting BG figure and was so pleased to see it coming down. Also will it be affected by the time of day I get up? I am a Nurse so some days get up at 5am for an early shift, 8am for a late shift and then on days off between 9-10.30am.

BG on the rise - please help

I have been diagnosed T2 for 5 weeks. I have noticed that over the last week my fasting sugars have been rising??? Last week I was 5.4, 5.8, 5.5, 5.9, then this week I have been 6.0, 6.2, 6.1 and now 6.5. I have not eaten anything different, still on very low carb diet - no fruit, potatoes...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Really? I didn't know that. So when I get up and walk my dog it causes my bg to go up before I test. I thought that activity brought it down. Will try tomorrow and see before I go out for a walk ... do you know why?

Advice on self testing Type 2

I was also afraid of pricking my own finger (and I'm a Nurse!!!) but my pricker lets me chose a number to determine the depth of the 'stick' - I chose 1. I have found from my own and my patients' experience that if you kind of 'milk the finger as if milking a cows udder' you can usually get...

I cured my diabetes so anybody can

I completely agree with your message. As a newbie myself, I joined the forum in a state of shock and must admit if I had seen the advice from the initial post in this thread I would have tried to follow it as I am desperate to control my diabetes and not go on meds. However, I have spent hours...

Why don't some people get it?

I have the same breakfast now, and I do like steak but think I may need to mix it up a little. I am one of the people who 'live to eat' rather than 'eat to live' (unfortunately). Thank you for answering my question.

I'm a Renal Nurse, also when taking blood pressure do not cross your legs, laugh or talk as it can all give a raised false reading.

Why don't some people get it?

Hi, can I ask for an example of your breakfast, dinner and tea please. I am having loads of vegetables and salad (not really keen) to fill up on because I have stopped rice, pasta, potatoes and bread, oh and fruit (not that stopping fruit bothers me!).
