    Unexpected weight gain

I've been on insulin for over a year now and weight was steadily increasing, despite that I'm doing sports almost every day (running/gym) and on very low carb diet. 80 kg at the dx and now 92. I'm on Toujeo (18-20u) + NovoRapid (rarely) Is it normal? What can I do? Should I switch Toujeo to...

    Unclear diagnosis

Didn't they measure your C-peptide level? Also they should have done test on antibodies, but low C-peptide level alone can say quite definitely that you are T1. I was also worried, but than I released that there is much more research going on for T1 and some are close to be approved [1]. So in...

    Type 1 Smoking

Wow, I though it's only me, but I also got diabetes approximately at the time when I quit smoking. Roughly in a week or two after that, of course I got diagnosed much later, but I traced it back using HbA1C value at diagnosis. Can it be stress related? (Don't take as advice not to quit :) )

    Newly diagnosed.

hi @bluenose1972 I also was diagnosed with type 1 at age 27, so it was a shock for me too. But now, year ago since dx, I think it's not that bad. I started to do sports every day, cut on **** food, no drinking/smoking. I'd never do all this without diabetes, so for me it was like invisible hand...

    Is this safe?

Thank you, catapillar. The difference is that if I do bolus (even 1 unit) it drops my bg very quickly to dangerous levels. Then I need to eat carbs again to recover, then it may be high again, and so on.. in other words bg jumps unpredictably. With basal only it is much more easy to control it...

    Is this safe?

I'm on LCHF, but I still want to have min daily amount of carbs. Is doing something like this safe? I'm doing a little bit more basal that it's needed to keep bg steady, for instance if my bg was 6.0 at some point, it then slowly drops to around 4.5 (in 3-4 hours). Then I eat some carbs...

    Unsure what type am I

I've been diagnosed about 2 months ago and doctors are still unsure what type I am. I'm 28, not overweight, doctor did all types of antibodies testing (GAD, ICA and others) and all negative, C-peptide 0.18, after meal 0.54. Right now glucose levels are 5.0-6.0, rarely go above 6.0 (I'm on LCHF...

Is diabetes still developing if hba1c is normal?

Correct, I was asking about developing complications. If a person already has diabetes and assume he somehow manages to keep Hba1c at healthy person level - would it still cause development of diabetics complications? Or it is not only about keeping Hba1c low, but there are also other processes...

Is diabetes still developing if hba1c is normal?

If I manage to keep my hba1c in normal level (as healthy person has) is diabetes still developing? i.e do I still have larger chance of various deceases than healthy people? I didn't find answer for this anywhere, and answer from my endocrinologist was very round.

    Stem cells treatment

I think it is different from "islet cell transplant", because stem-cells are produced from your own cells and thus do not cause rejection, at least this is how I understand it, but it looks too good to be true..

    Stem cells treatment

How is this Swiss Medica offers type 1 treatment "without side effects and rejection"? http://startstemcells.com/diabetes-type1-treatment.html Is it even possible? Is it different from islet transplant? I didn't find any research papers regarding trials of stem cells in US or somewhere else.

Arm falling asleep during the night

I've been diagnosed about 1.5 month ago, and since then every day one of my arms is "falling asleep" during the night - i.e became numb so that I wake up. Is it related to diabetes somehow? This only happens when I sleep, I did not notice any symptoms during the day. Also I do not remember this...

    Some questions from newbie

Hi, I'm 28, not obese, was diagnosed about 1.5 months ago, but doctors are still unsure what type am I, probably type 1, but not certain. I was diagnosed at 19 mmol/l, accidentally, without any usual symptoms. Initially was diagnosed with type 1 and after being on small rapid-acting insulin...
