    A bit of a dilemma

Hi Thanks for such useful comments. I agree with everything you say, but at the same time see it upside down. You elude to this yourself. For example, about needing more insulin per carb if you eat less carbs, is likely to be true because of gluconeogenesis, where protein is converted into...

    A bit of a dilemma

So I am a type 3c diabetic, having had two episodes pancreatitis, three years apart in the last decade. I have reduced insulin production, my kas H1ABC was 95m and my average over the last ten years was over 100. In January, with help from my Libre it was determined that my 90 day average for...

    Eye complications

I had my laser treatment a couple of weeks back. I was quite scared, but the process was painless. They did say I might experience permanent reduction in night vision (seeing things in poor light), and get permanent floaters (grey floating things in my eye). I actually got both - when I look...

1 better than Len Goodman. 8!! Better than yesterday, and I am sure not as good as tomorrow. Too much protein before bed I reckon.

    Supply of needles etc.

Hi. This might be useful https://www.diabetes.co.uk/insulin/reusing-insulin-pen-needles.html I have to say, 99 times out of 100 I use a fresh needle, although I do regularly use the same finger pricker for days at a time!

    Back to square 1

Peperami doesn't need to be kept in the fridge. If you are running out the door and want to eat whilst in the car, I sometimes do babybel cheese too. I wouldn't keep anything too long in the car though.

    Back to square 1

Some low carb breakfasts that work well for me are Kale, spring onion and chopped bacon, stir fried in butter, tinned mackerel in a tomato sauce, or a cheese and marmite sandwich (forget the bread, just two bits of cheese eaten like a sandwich, with a small spread of marmite in the middle. All...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Hi. Yes - I am good at sticking to low carb ( <20g per day). I am however getting used to my insulin. I should really be there by now, after being on insulin for over 6 years, but now my blood sugars are in a much better range than what they were (my lowest hba1c over last 6 years is 95, with...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

9.4, went for a 50 minute walk around 5.30am, then it was 6.2 on my return (without drugs) - fell to 4.2 later in the day, where I felt pretty rubbish.

I agee mostly, but this is a leaflet that is sent out to people by the NHS when you have the appointment which explains what they do when you go for an appointment. You should be able to click the red "this" word in my post above.

    Eye complications

To be honest, the first thing I thought, was yes - investigate the left eye. Not so sure about the laser surgery on the right eye. I don't even understand really what "the eye might bleed" means. I don't understand enough about what they are doing, or why, or whether getting a grip on my...
