Type 1 diabetic badly controlled but getting there. My issue is no matter what you tell the diabetic nurses etc ...is they do absolutely nothing to help..its gone that far now I refuse to see them anymore...I am trying to control my glucose readings the best I can with any info I find online...

What are peoples thoughts on working shifts with Type 1 ? I work 12 hour shifts 2 days 2 nights and 6 days off and find it easier to control when I am working. Just interested in others experiences.

To be completely honest I am just entering my second decade as a Type 1. I am a hopeless diabetic with regular readings of 30+ I have lost so much weight (6st 12) ..it has made me hate eating anything ..I constantly feel like xxxx . And I don't really care anymore. But am still here lol

Eat meat and veg...homemade curry..chilli Shepherds pie that sort of thing ...at work I walk about 16000 steps a shift..I did start to put weight on for a spell by eating a very high protein diet but found it impossible to keep it up ...clogged me up so to speak lol..

Will change doctors i think as I really do look terrible , see if I get any help there ...but I know the diabetic nurses travel to different practices so probably end up in same situation.

Have only had tests they do when checking Hba1c..I have expressed my concerns but they weren't interested. Their reply is always just ensure you take correct amount of insulin and control your levels.

Update tried allsorts to put weight on now down to 48kg and I look disgusting..tried to control readings ..and diet ..spoke to nurse about it and her response was arrr bless ..given up with healthcare professionals now as they are just not interested when they are confronted with a problem...I...

34.6 due to hypo at 1 a.m fridge is empty now lol
