    Type 1 Diabetic on dialysis

With regards to Fozzy soft drinks - I was informed soda is fine but to avoid Coke. Any other fizzy was on the green list in the leaflet I was given (green is fine to consume). My egfr is down to 5 and I have just had a PD tube inserted (yesterday) ready to start dialysis. But have seen the...

    Type 1 Diabetic on dialysis

This info is correct. I stick to a strict renal diet - and everything we would usually choose to eat that is good for us normally e.g. Wholegrain/brown can actually be bad for us renal patients. As a renal patient he will need to watch his pottasium and phosphate intake . The NHS can give him...

    NEPHROPATHY

If u get your bgs u der the best control u can and control blood pressure u might be lucky to avoid it progressing! I was in the 60's for almost 5 years - it wasn't until this year my gfr dropped rapidly. And that was due to them taking me off medication and my bgs being extremely erratic. I'm...

    Laser Advice

It's coming up with an error message when I try open the link! I was told they do some laser during the operation too. Or can do if needed. I was just worried that the original doc said the op was too risky and to have more laser first. N now they're saying they can't do laser and to have the...

    Laser Advice

I mentioned it - the guy doing it today was really nice and if it hurt he turned the setting down a notch! However, the bad news is one eye could be done as they wanted. The other - because I've had a large beamorrage I'm it they can't laser it (be did what he could) so he said I will benefit...

    Laser Advice

Hi all, I've had two lots of laser on each eye so far! And been booked in today for urgent laser again. Last time I had it though (both eyes the second time round) really hurt me. Has anyone had more than two lots and did it hurt the more times u had it done?

Does having T1D make you more anti-social?

The hospital admission could be what sparked it off. I have been type 1 for 30years - never had a problem going out or having a drink. Until I ended up in hospital from a terrible hypo after a night out. It scared the life out of me. Anyway - after a while I was fine again n thought I can't let...

What is it like to pass out during a hypo

I have been unconscious twice in 30 years because of hypos. Same as the comment above - u don't actually know that much about it. One of mine I kept drifting in and out of conciousness (I was alone in the house) my phone was ringing and I could hear it as I was coming around but couldn't...

    Type 1: High and normal

Hi, I was getting some erratic readings for ages. My levemir was incorrect for starters. Plus I never used to carb count religiously - since adjusting my levemir and carb counting everything I have eliminated the erratics a lot. Also, 4.6 is a good reading. But u may be feeling hypo with that...

Type 1 Feel like I'm having a constant hypo

Well my ears have been popping too! I know they're all connected so hoping if it is this the hypo type feeling will go. I just didn't know if it was normal to get that feeling without the hypo for so long. But sounds like it may be my sinus/ears causing me the problems! Thanks for all the advice

Type 1 Feel like I'm having a constant hypo

I will look in to this. I broke my nose a few years ago and ever since I have suffered with sinus problems. Was unsure if this would cause the odd/hypo/weird feeling. But it appears it could do. Will deffo give this a try though, thank u
