    How Many Carbs is Best?

They were quite insistent that those carbs were the minimum amounts too as baby needs carbs to develop so if you can try to get close to that you should be about right. Both my pregnancies were hard and i had some high readings but i got 2 perfect babies in the end so make sure you stick to the...

    How Many Carbs is Best?

through both my recent pregnancies i was advised to have 20-30g of carbs for breakfast, 40g for lunch and 40-50g for dinner, i hope that helps a bit. I have just realised that i am still subconsciously sticking to it and my kids are now 2 and 3!

Hi i have had 2 babies at 35 weeks, my daughter was 6 lbs 13 and my son 9 lbs 13, they were born 14 months apart and my diabetes control was very similar with both, i really struggled with fluctuating blood glucose levels too, i did my best to control them but whatever i did it never seemed to...

    Insulin Pump Cannula Site Probelms...Help!

i had exactly the same problem about 8 weeks ago when i first started on my pump, as you say the rapid d cannula looked flat to my skin but it was as if it wasn't going in and the insulin certainly wasn't as i had really high blood sugars for days despite changing it 9 times in 6 days! they...

    Early scan concerns

Yes i did, i had a scan at 6 weeks, it was internal too but before even starting the sonographer kept saying that it was really hard at that early stage to find a heartbeat so don't panic if she had to tell me she couldn't see one. she said, although she would see the early signs of pregnancy...

yes very true lol, i always knew that my appointments would be on a thursday afternoon so i made sure that i kept my work load as low as possible on those days so that other people weren't burdened with extra jobs when i left. I never knew how long the clinic would last for though so i would...

2 year old with type 1

Bless her, she sounds like she is coping with it really well, thats amazing that she can do her own blood glucose tests at 2 years old! It is hard for other people to understand exactly what you're going through as lots of people still think that diabetes means you can't have as much sugar in...

5 wks late on period & docs no help!

i think all hospitals must do things differently as at my local hospital the waiting room was always full and after chatting to different people it seemed like most of them had gestational diabetes or were type 2, not anywhere near as many type 1's.

5 wks late on period & docs no help!

yay it sounds promising with all those symptoms. It looks like you have your diabetes under tight control which is great but i would wait until Tuesday and call your diabetes clinic at your local hospital as that tends to be where all the pregnant diabetic stuff happens rather than at your...

Anyone any experience with pumps and going into hospital?

It is early but at least we are well prepared and get lots of extra scans and check ups. I know a few people that have had unexpected prem babies and they seem to have a lot more problems than we do because they hadn't had steroids and hadn't been mentally prepared for it. Both my kids are...

Hi I am in a similar boat to you as i only started on my spirit combo pump about 3 weeks ago, lots to take in as you say but i was already carb counting so that has made it a bit easier for me. I am like the rest of the ladies and keep mine attached to my bra but they gave me a pouch that is...

Anyone any experience with pumps and going into hospital?

i am sure you will be fine, just make sure you question everything because i found that my diabetes team, who as you say are great, were nowhere to be seen in the delivery suite which is where i went for my steroids so they were just using protocols which didn't work for me. I stamped my feet...

Anyone any experience with pumps and going into hospital?

I had the same experience whilst in hospital having steroids pre-babies just like you're about to do. I wasn't on a pump then so i was put onto a sliding scale through a drip and the labour ward nurses were left to monitor me but they didn't have a clue about diabetes they were just following...
