Type 1: Blood Sugar All Over the Place Really Need Help Adjusting Levels

Hi Akaust, It's quite clear that you are having a roller coaster of blood sugars probably because you are eating large amounts of carbohydrates. As a long standing type 1 diabetic myself these high blood sugars really not need to happen nor do the long term complications. It be wise of you to...

    low sugar levels

Dr Bernstein says that long exposure to high blood and then normalising blood sugars can bring on the symptoms of hypoglycaemia. If a diabetic typically had blood sugars around 10 and if you'd immediately brought their blood sugars to normal he'd or she would feel hypoglycaemia symptoms...

Anonymous Question Sugars were 19, took 20 units of insulin and now my sugars are 24! Help!

I think it's best you don't correct your blood sugar until at least 5 hours have since your dose. There is two very likely causes 1. Insulin is damaged- it's best you throw away this cartridge and try a fresh cartridge. 2. If the insulin is still isn't working then you clearly have an infection.

    Napping and hypos!

Hi Sarah, there is only more thing I can think of which also applies to me. Depending on how long you've had diabetes and how long you've been exposed to high blood sugars you may have a slightly or severely paraylised stomach. This diabetic condition is called gastrporesis. If I for example eat...

    Napping and hypos!

Hi Sarah, I dont think that napping causes hypo but more likely you have a similar problem to what most diabetics have. Usually I have the sytoms of hypo about 30mins before onset of a hypo. Prior to the onset of low blood sugar I usually always want to go sleep. I soon realised that when ever...

    Taken too much insulin

Hi how are you getting on?

    Injecting insulin

Hi Saeeda, I strongly disagree with the above advice to inject into thighs. If you feel your thighs you will find little body fat and only a thin layer of skin with muscle below. You will likely inject into your muscle. The problem with injecting insulin into muscle is that it will work a lot...

    Injecting insulin

Hi Saeeda, please read Dr Bernstein Diabetes Solution available on Amazon UK. Here's some basic information about insulin. Insulin with the help of fat cells converts glucose in your blood stream to body fat. Insulin in other words builds body fat. You are suffering from a case of...

    Anyone use Degludec (Tresiba) insulin?

Hi Liz H, unlike yourself I was scared of trying something new. I was on Lantus for many years but a month ago switched to Tresiba. It's a lovely insulin. I use to suffer overnight hypo and whenever I did it was quite severe. On Tresiba I have only had one hypo episode overnight. I now awake...

Need to give away Lantus u-100

Hi, recently switched from Lantus u-100 cartridges to Tresiba, I have 2 boxes and 10 cartridges (in their foil packaging) that I am desperate to give to someone who needs it. These insulins have always been refrigerated and I am happy to show my repeat prescription where I get my insulins from...

Scared of hypo , losing weight fast.

Hi Josephine, I was holding back tears when I read this reply as I cannot relate to you enough about my experience of having type 1 diabetes since I was 6 (now 25). I always felt I was alone in this phobia or anxiety of normal/low blood sugars. Regards Munim
