    Medication/insulin and taxi driving

I recently commenced on Humulin N3 from Victoza. Notified DVLA immediately - had a reply in one week to say i could continue to drive and to notify them if any change to my current circumstances or prescription. The process was simple and clear. No extra premium with insurances either.

Confused as I’m high all week

Now that is helpful about the milk and the carbs when carrots are cooked. In winter my diet changes slightly from uncooked vegetables to cooked and i have a warm milk or milky coffee, normally i have soya. I will monitor this with interest. Thankyou.

    Appointments during Covid-19

Nothing at all from my GP practice since February. I have phoned no reply so I wrote and no reply x twice. However my request to correct my script, that the Nurse Consultant amended by reducing and halving my medication for test strips and lancets, in error, when synchronising my script for home...

COVID-19: are you wearing a mask?

I managed to get some face shields on line from flat shield they are brilliant and not expensive, washable too. £2.00 each. Fit perfectly. For me anything that makes me feel more comfortable out and about is a good thing as stress is a big BG raiser for me. Also the plastic shield stops you...

    Type 1 Shielding for diabetics

Your right we should each know our levels of tolerance in terms of managing how we navigate society in easing back, or not. The big issue for me is that i do not know other peoples behaviours, attitudes and values that may impact on how the act in confined spaces. Prior to the lockdown, in...

What are you doing to keep covid out of your home

To be honest i tend to eat a whole bag of spinach in one sitting especially when i make chicken sagwala. I wash the salad thats going onto my plate in a sieve as i use it and sprinkle it with a good measure of apple cider vinegar and lemon juice.

What are you doing to keep covid out of your home

Maybe, but type 2, over 70 years of age - I've got time to do these things to give myself and my family the best possible chances of getting through. Its easy when you are organised and i still get to have a good day! Hope you have a good day as well.

What are you doing to keep covid out of your home

Have you considered taking off your shoes or walking through a trough of soapy water and then taking your shoes off before entering your home? I always hang my outdoor clothing up in the fresh air outside on a hanger before entering my home if i have been in my front garden as people walk past...

I have had diabetes for 40 years and was obese about 25 years ago when i went onto medication i was distraught and very worried. I noted that the stress took my bs levels to an all time...

    Averaging Glucose Meter Readings

I do a before food and 2 hours after for my two main meals a day. I use urine sticks to spot trends and to monitor new foods. It seems to work. Diabetic clinic today says gold standard, and have maintained this for over 3 years.

What do you miss most from being diabetic

I used to just jump in the car and go wherever, when ever i wanted, now i have to plan so i guess i am still resisting the fact that i am a type 2 diabetic. (Denial) I always test now before a journey, for safety and always carry a banana and water (just in case). I do not get lows and neither...

Please can we have a forum section on reactive hypoglycaemia?

I have found that i need to limit carbs, increase fats and veg to keep a 5.8 bg reading. I am type 2 and not overweight. I swim most days and am very active in the garden an on the allotment. I have also found that eating little and often is better than 3 meals for me. Nothing after 8pm ...

    Items Labelled "Diabetic"

Yes - it is very odd that they think we will not look at the ingredients. I certainly do look very closely on anything that i purchase that is produced by a company. It is difficult to do it but i have found that it makes a huge difference to the good management of my diabetes.
