Who on here eats a ' normal diet"......

I eat normal (not low-carb and I eat everything I used to before I was diagnosed, I snack and eat sweets whenever I feel like etc) and have an A1C of 6.1% (43) which I'm happy with.

    Eye floaters

Hey guys - can eye floaters be related to diabetes?? A few weeks ago I moved countries for work (very stressful period, so could be related to that), but since then I have been seeing a lot of floaters in my vision. I've never had this issue before. I don't have a doctor/hospital yet so I can't...

    Insulin Out Of The Fridge

Thank you, that's a great tip I'll ask them when I go pick up my prescription!

    Insulin Out Of The Fridge

Thank you. I did look at options like that first but I don't think I can afford it which is why I'm looking at alternatives

    Insulin Out Of The Fridge

I didn't know about the permitted exposure times, thank you that's very helpful! I will order a Frio pouch in that case :)

    Insulin Out Of The Fridge

Yes, but what I meant was that the shelf life would then also be reduced to "around a month" because it won't be kept between 2-8°C as stipulated to keep its 12 month shelf life - wouldn't it?

    Insulin Out Of The Fridge

I thought Frio pouches only keep it "cool" (as in it won't spoil in hot weather) rather than at fridge temperature though? Also, it will be a 14 hour journey at least so it's quite hard to find something that lasts that long

    Insulin Out Of The Fridge

Hi, I know insulin leaflets say it will keep a month out of the fridge but does anyone have any actual experience with how long it can work when not cooled? I'm asking because I'm moving country soon and there is a possibility I might not be able to keep it cooled on the journey over. I don't...

    Levemir Split Doses

No, I take 17u in the morning (9am) and 10u at night (10pm). My consultant tried switching me to Tresiba a few months ago but I discovered that due to those different day/night needs it wasn't working for me. Been back on Levemir for 2 months now and much better controlled!

    Afrezza inhaled fast acting insulin

I have very similar experiences (Novorapid and Levemir). Yesterday we had a BBQ so ate mostly meat, with a bit of coleslaw and a few slices of baguette at around 17:30. I was hovering at 5.8 until 21:30, when suddenly I shot up to 15.8 even though I hadn't eaten anything else all night. I...

    What's the highest you've been?

Not entirely sure how high, but I've had a few HIs on my meter over the 16 years since diagnosis (none since I've started Libre a year ago though).

Nhs Clinic Appointment Cancellations, Again !

The same happened to me (West Yorkshire) and I ended up swapping to a different nearby hospital. My care has been significantly better and I went from having my appointment pushed back 14 months (in a time where I was really struggling with control) to being seen almost immediately by the new...

    Libre Stickiness

I personally don't have any problems with them sticking, but I know from a Libre Facebook group I'm part of that a lot of people cover them with Tegaderm or rocktape to get them to stick.

    Struggling With Mornings

Thanks both! I've got an appointment in 2 weeks so at least I'll have a chance to try it out and bring it up then. Really hoping I can crack this one!

    Struggling With Mornings

@kitedoc Moved my Levemir forward to 7am and increased my breakfast IC ratio but still no difference [emoji21]

    Struggling With Mornings

Today I skipped breakfast. My levels (after 1.5u to stop "foot on the floor") remained perfectly in range all morning. Then I had lunch, and now the exact same thing is happening, except later! Levels spiked up as soon as I ate, and now won't come back in range despite several corrections. I'm...

    Struggling With Mornings

It very well could in these situations. My consultant has brought up Fiasp before but the reason I've been reluctant to try it is that when everything is "normal", my Novorapid acts just as quickly. I never pre bolus for meals (the one time I did I dropped from 9.3 to 3.8 within half an hour)...

Could you elaborate on the reasoning/research behind that?

    Struggling With Mornings

It still seems to me like something weird is going on. I took a further 2u correction to try and bring me down slightly more from 9.6 before lunch, but it barely had any impact whatsoever and its been 1.5 hours!

    Struggling With Mornings

Thanks! Definitely something to bear in mind if I can't work this out. I'll try bringing my morning dose forward first and see how I get on :)
