    Best belt for running?

Spibelts are great. I use a double pocket one to hold my phone on one side, sweets, keys, tissues in the other.

    Parkrun

I'd suggest testing levels before the walk/run and having a wee packet of Haribo or similar - 10 to 15g of quick acting carbs. Test at the end if the Parkrun, earlier if not feeling right. And keep an eye on levels for a few hours afterwards. Once your pup is old enough, your daughter might...

Essential info for choosing a pump

I'm in the same boat as yourself. Love my animas, but is out of warranty so Medtronic 640 or Roche Insight are the choices. My main issue is which is easier to see and work with while having poor eyesight.

    Tears before bedtime?

It's called mometasone furoate nasal spray. I still haven't got as far as organising a visit to the Dr about this.

    Diabetic hand syndrome

It looks to be a good job. My thumb splints def allow a bit of wiggle room after wearing them awhile. I don't wear one on the right anymore, but do occasionally on the left as it's flared up at mo and it very painful when it decides to flick up/down. Recommended by my physio.

    Diabetic hand syndrome

£55?!! That's some expensive splints! Why so pricey, what do they do different from other makes of splints? (Says she with cheap assed thumb and wrist splints...)

    Eat Well For Less (BBC1)

I'm surprised no one on here picked up on the whole wheat pasta recommended by the expert, but it was the shop value brand white pasta in the shopping bags that they'd been feeding them. The school lunch with the fruit drink and crisps.... My kids aren't diabetic and they always went school with...

    Tears before bedtime?

Thank you all for the responses and info. I'll give the warm flannel a go and make an appointment for the GP. I'm already on a nasal inhaler for post nasal drip, so will ask about eye drops. I have previously mentioned the issue at the eye specialist clinic, but no response on it from them...

    Tears before bedtime?

I've had proliferative retinopathy treated using laser over a year ago and things are stable. I've problems with night and peripheral vision as a result. I often have tears running down my face, particularly when I lie down at night or first thing in the morning, but at other times of the day...

    Diabetic hand syndrome

Hi, I have all three conditions you mention, and also can't press my palms together. No Dr has ever mentioned Diabetic hand syndrome to me, I've only seen it mentioned on forums here. I'm also interested to learn more. T1 diabetic for over 30 years.

    Disability Discrimination Act

I'd tread carefully on not disclosing diabetes to potential employers. Depending on circumstances, questions they have asked etc, it could be seen as withholding information which could mean termination of employment contract down the line.

Are there any Blind PC users within the forum who could help me?

Would it be worth while having some admins of this forum liase with RNIB to get advice on how best VIPs can access it and ways in which it can be made easier? Given that diabetes is one of the leading causes of visual impairment; the forum should be easily accessible to all.

    Eye Muscles weakness?

Thanks for the reply, interesting to hear. I'll Google "3rd cranial nerve palsy" to see if it does ring true to my experiences. Good to know yours resolved for the main part.

    Eye Muscles weakness?

Thanks. No need to apologise. :) If I understand correctly it's kind of a form of neuropathy, from what I've gleaned off the internet. Never heard of it before, hence asking on here if others have experience.

    Eye Muscles weakness?

No, it's not my eyelid twitching, it's my eye. Optician seen it "in action" and confirmed that's what I was feeling and that the split second dimming of vision was my brain not being able to interpret things. My eye is trying to correct itself drifting off course; at least that's how I...

    Eye Muscles weakness?

Went to my optician today a about twitch and split second dimming happening frequently in my left eye over last few weeks. I already have a prism in my glasses for slight double vision/depth perception issues I'd been having. She told me today is likely the diabetes affecting nerves to do with...

    Retinopathy "spots"?

I have proliferative retinopathy and have greyish areas in my eyesight, worse when looking at something white, or a screen. It's rather like looking through a dirty lens of a camera. They sometimes change a bit or move a little. My night vision is rubbish, a result of pan rental laser...
