    Statins for over 40

I turned down statins last year as I felt the benefits v the risks were not for me. I may be wrong (probably wrong), but there's been nothing to convince me in the benefit of taking them. Nothing has changed this year, but during my telephone appointment I agreed to take them. However I'm now...

    Regular moderate exercise log

This thread seems ideal for what I'm doing. I'm aiming for frequent exercise, rather than intense. So I'm trying to do 30 minute sprint indoor cycling classes, 2-3 mile runs and going to an outdoor exercise class once per week when possible. This last week's been bad though. I had a bit of a...

    Not Doing Too Well

I've got my review since this wobble and I must say, things have improved a lot. I've taken a look at my results on mydiabetesmyway and it my hba1c is back down to 46.0 rather than 91 when I created this thread.

Travelling Abroad - Hand Luggage Only

It's more the little sharp I was wondering about rather than the actual meter, but surely that's short enough it won't be a problem? I'll ask for a copy of my prescription then. I normally just order online and collect the medicine from boots.

Travelling Abroad - Hand Luggage Only

I am travelling a couple of times this year within the EU and plan to take only hand luggage on the plane. Can I take my Metformin tablets and tester/strips with me without any issues?

    Glimepiride and Hypos

OK, thanks. To begin with they told me to reduce it myself if I kept getting hypos, which I did (4mg down to 3mg). They have also told me to ring in if I'm worried at all, so I'll do that. In fact, just remembering, she did ask me if I had plenty of 1mg tablets left in case I needed to drop...

    Glimepiride and Hypos

Hi all - hope everyone is keeping well. I am currently on 2,000mg of Metformin and 2mg of Glimepiride per day. 2 weeks ago I reduced my glimepiride from 4mg to 3mg per day due to hypos in the afternoon, as advised by my surgery. As these hypos continued, the surgery took me down again to 2mg...

    Not Doing Too Well

Feeling a little better, so back to work today. Still a little groggy and although blood sugars have improved, they are still high at around the 15-20 mark. They upped my Glimepiride from 1mg to 2mg per day and after 1 week my Metformin goes from 500mg to 1000mg, then to 1500mg after another week.

    Not Doing Too Well

The hospital aren't too worried, as my keytones are OK. The doc wants me to come in though to check me over and will see me at 15:20

    Not Doing Too Well

Doc just called and she's going to call the main hospital to see if they want to see me or to up my medication.

    Not Doing Too Well

Sorry, I missed out in my original post, they asked me to measure ketones if it was above 17. My keytones have been 0.1 or 0.2. Not heard of LADA before, will take a look. Still waiting on the doc calling.

    Not Doing Too Well

Very brief background - I was diagnosed in 2011 with T2 and quickly changed into a healthier lifestyle. I was removed from all medication and I was managing my condition with diet and exercise. I then stopped exercising quite as much, and although I kept eating a lot more veg and home-cooked...

Does a Diagnosis Ever Get Removed?

Thanks Lazybones. I just feel like I am wasting time, money and resources with regular checkups and clinic appointments that would be better spent on someone else.

Does a Diagnosis Ever Get Removed?

I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes back in January 2011 when I had a very unhealthy lifestyle and horrible results to tests in the doctor/clinic. Hba1c results were 92 mmol/mol (10.6%) back then. By March 2011 I had it down to 62 (7.8%) and 31 (5%) by May 2011. Since then the highest it has...

Feeling Off After Hard Exercise Session

I am not sure if this is diabetes related or not (as it doesn't make sense for it to be), but I have came here because you guys are knowledgable on the stuff that I am going to be talking about. A bit of background. I was diagnosed as diabetic just over 2 years ago and shortly after I took up...
