    Accidental double dose of Metformin

Thanks for the replies. Each tablet is 500 mg and I usually take two in the morning and two at night for a total of 2000 mg. I won't take my evening dose and not feel too guilty if I eat more carbs this evening.

    Accidental double dose of Metformin

Good morning - I had my head in the clouds this morning and accidentally took my Metformin twice - 2 tablets (total 4) plus my 300 mg dose of Invokana. Should I be concerned? I am at work and don't have my meter with me to test (stupid I know).

Rotator Cuff Surgery - Complications with T2?

Just remember that what I experienced does not necessarily reflect what you will so try not to worry. Age has a lot to do with it and of course the severity of the injury to the shoulder as well. I had surgery on my other shoulder back in 2009 before I was diagnosed and definitely didn't have...

Rotator Cuff Surgery - Complications with T2?

Thanks for sharing your experience. It is slowly improving but have swelling in my hand and arm still and difficulty holding small objects like a pen. Back to work half time and pretty tired by the end of that but trying to keep a positive attitude.

Hello from returning member whose had a serious loss of control over 2015

Sounds just like me! I too was diagnosed in 2011 - came here for the excellent advice and education about what being T2 means. I was good for about three years then just stopped caring anymore. Haven't taken a reading in more than a year until this morning when it was 7.8 so am now determined...

Rotator Cuff Surgery - Complications with T2?

I had surgery 12 weeks ago to repair a rotator cuff and have really been struggling with recovering full range of motion. The physiotherapist says that diabetics are at greater risk of developing frozen shoulder after this type of surgery. Has anyone had any experience with this?

Type 2 Is it just the heat or something more serious?

We have been having about a week of extremely hot weather (36 degrees C today) and I have noticed that every evening my legs and ankles become very swollen. Last night, my wrists and hands even had some swelling. I work in an air conditioned office all day, sittlng 98% of the time but haven't...

    Feeling Awful

It's been a long time since I posted here. I have been doing quite well with HbA1c's below 6 for the last three visits (each 3 months apart). As a result, I've been very negligent in testing - maybe only once a week or even less, but each time the numbers were below 7.0, so I thought I was...

    Diabetes Vaccine

Came across this article today - not sure if anyone else had already posted the link http://www.ctv.ca/CTVNews/TopStories/20 ... ne-110624/ but thought it would be a good thing to share. Small excerpt to whet your appetite: "A low-cost tuberculosis vaccine that's been in use for decades...

Good Article: Why we should monitor and have the A1c

I recently came across an article from my local pharmacy online that I think does a really good job of explaining the importance of daily monitoring and the purpose of the A1c. I suspect that many of you will have issues with the ranges that are deemed acceptable, but worth a read anyway...

    Should I increase my Metrformin?

I was wondering what I should do - I was put on metformin about three weeks ago 1 x 500 mg with breakfast and told that if I didn't notice much of a change, I could go to 2 x 500 mg (one in the morning and one in the evening). Since I went on a trip to Las Vegas about a week after I was put on...

still coming to terms with T2

When I read your post, I thought "that's me!" Not diagnosed as long ago, but with the early signs of menopause and just trying to sort what is diabetes related and what is not, it's hard to stick to a new way of thinking about food. Really gets annoying when what seems to be okay one day...

    Still Poopy!

I have never heard of a "cold pressed" cooking oil - could you give me some examples? I live in Canada, so hopefully some of the same brands are available here.

    Blood in urine

Happened to me too - then had a fairly nasty UTI shortly after. This was before I was diagnosed diabetic (by only a few weeks) so not sure if there was a linkage of any kind. Hope you get news soon! I'll be thinking of you.

    Timing of glucose readings

I think that the advice on this forum is to test before you eat and then two hours after. If you test just after you eat, of course your numbers would be high as your body is just dealing with the food you have ingested. I am sure others will respond to you soon with more info. Also the...

Anyone Else Get Hungry After Viewing the Forum?

Hello all - I come on the forum every week or so, and find that I get really hungry after reading most of the posts  I was wondering if anyone else experienced this and what snacks do you indulge in. After just reading the porridge post, I'm really craving porridge! Still consider...

    Type 2 Help Please

Hi Daz, The symptoms you describe are exactly what I was experiencing for a very long time - eventually the thirst/frequent urination made me suspect diabetes. I went to the doc regularly for high BP, and even though I mentioned these symptoms and was sent for a glucose tolerance test (three...

    travel and medical supplies

If you are travelling to the US and need to see anyone at a hospital be sure to mention that the monitors in the UK measure in mmol as the US one use a diferent measurement - so if you go in and give them your numbers they will be very confused.

    fruit juice

Personally i find that either one sends my sugars soaring so try to avoid them - but the only way you will know is to test! Best is to have a real orange instead I find - especially since you can eat it a segment at a time over a longer period. If I find that I absolutely must have fruit juice...
