    Trulicity

Hello Michael, I've been on Trulicity for 8 or 9 months and it's been good for me. Like you I couldn't tolerate Metformin. I was running at about 15 trying to control BS with diet and exercise after I finally gave up on the Metformin and now I'm getting readings of 6s and 7s. I can't say I...

    Diabetic experts recommend not testing??

Thank you so much for your responses and helpful advice. I'm definitely buying my own testing equipment. At the moment I'm snaffling a few of my husband's test strips (with his encouragement of course!) and already I'm discovering helpful information. Day One. Fasting 5.9 breakfast 2...

    Diabetic experts recommend not testing??

That's exactly what I thought - I said to him that it seemed a bit short sighted not to spend a relatively modest sum on testing strips rather than the massive cost of a hospital admission and treatment for a complication further down the road. He dodged that one and on the way home I thought...

    Diabetic experts recommend not testing??

Thanks for your response. Yes, as I mentioned I can fund my own testing if necessary but my question was more about whether diabetic experts, the ones who host the conferences, etc are coming up with rationales so that doctors on the front line can justify non-testing. It would make it more...

    Diabetic experts recommend not testing??

Thanks Tanis, yes my thoughts exactly. I want to have as much control of this as possible and not rely on an annual HBA1c to see where I'm going wrong. I can understand, even if I'm not happy with financial constraints being the reason but I was puzzled by the 'expert' opinion.

    Diabetic experts recommend not testing??

Hello! Newly diagnosed about 5 months ago, (although I have been here before because my husband has had Type 2 for 15 years and we’ve benefitted greatly from the advice on this forum, thank you!) On the day of my own diagnosis I was told not only that I wouldn’t be given a meter/test strips but...

    Confused. Sugar in fat?

My husband is a type 2 and saw a new GP today, one of the diabetic specialists at practice. This new doc was appalled at hubby's low carb diet. He emphatically said, No, no, NO when hubby said he'd had a fried breakfast and stated that gram for gram there is more sugar in fat than...

    I am not Obese

I hate the way that the media generalises about diabetics and the whole 'blame' culture. My husband was diagnosed Type 2 about 8 years ago. We suspected diabetes because of the classic raging thirst but when he visited the doc he was told, rather patronisingly, that he couldn't have diabetes...

    The next food scare

Hi, I've been a lurker on the forum for the past few weeks as I'm attempting to help my husband get a better grip on his BGs, so excuse me for jumping in. I was interested in the red meat debate and found this posting on twitter, pointing to the actual draft report (PDF) with the relevant page...
