Why was husband offered course, but I was not?

Unfortunately he can't go with me as he's about to go to work in Switzerland for three months! I've tried ringing them but I can only leave a message. And no one has rung me back. I think I'll send the form in anyway in my name and add a note to the effect that I'm the one with diabetes not him...

Why was husband offered course, but I was not?

My husband received a letter, addressed to him, inviting him to attend a DSMP diabetes self management programme. He is not diabetic. Not even on the border-line. He has kidney stones so he has regular check-ups and blood tests anyway. I am diabetic and have been for 15 years. But no one has...

    Need some advice please. Lyxumia.

Thanks Luceeloo. Never heard of that dawn thing. I've always woken up feeling nauseous in the mornings even long before I was diagnosed. Three months you say? I guess I should just hang fire and be patient. It might sort itself out too. Thank you!

    Allergic reaction to Metformin

I took slow-release metformin for years and was fine. Then last year I started being breathless. It was very frightening. My doctor and I realised it was the metformin and he was fine with me dropping it. It's a one-size-fits-all treatment, but it doesn't fit all.

Has anyone else seen this 'Appalling' type 2 diabetes advert?

The doctor who originally diagnosed me as diabetic acknowledged that what really matters is if you already have diabetic relatives. Very large people can go through life without getting diabetes while very slim people can still get type 2. It all depends on genetics. Mind you, if the govmint had...

    Need some advice please. Lyxumia.

I've been injecting every day for a month with Lyxymia, 10mg for two weeks and then 20mg. Thing is, it's driving me crackers! My blood sugar level seems to be up and down and all over the place. I've had more hypos and hypers than I could shake a Lyxumia pen at. I thought this thing was supposed...

Special offer from Boots on medical products

I'm lucky living in Wales, as all our medication etc. is free. I've never had to pay for strips and lancets.

Type 2s: What have you eaten today?

I'm feeling very virtuous! I made spaghetti bolognaise for dinner/lunch today. To begin with, I didn't use a pre-made sauce as I would have done before. And while I made spaghetti for my husband, I made courgette "spaghetti" for me. My daughter had given me a spiraliser for Christmas and I'd...

Poll: Which diabetes course(s) have you attended?

I didn't know there were any diabetes courses!

    Fed Up

Seriously, do what they tell you. I tore my left knee three times and ended up with roughened cartilage, which caused the ligaments to catch. I ended up with an operation. Even if it cuts into your walking time, rest your knee. You don't want to be like me, with arthritis in both knees because...

    Sassin' Frassin' Doctors!

I am so fed up with the medical profession. I was diabetic for years and they wouldn't believe me, wouldn't test me for it. Not until the gov'mint decided to bang on about it. Now they're all over it. I had gestational diabetes, but all I got was "oh you're going to have an enormous baby". I...

    New To Lyxumia...

...does the nausea ever go away? I've taken it for a week now (the bright green pen with the lower dose) and I feel like nothing on earth! I had to force myself to eat something for lunch today. I've tried eating Polos, sugar-free of course, but it only works for an hour and then back to feeling...
