    Which Insulin to request

I have been placed back onto actrapid and insulatard as the useless novorapid and glargine just didn't work! The human insulins are cheaper, DSN told me this. Though they wanted to give me a shed load of tablets to help the analog insulin, would that not mean a greater cost to the NHS for...

advantages of rapidly acting insulin to human insulin

All i can say is that the quick acting insulin dies out after 2hrs, human insulin can cover for upto 6hrs. I was originally on human insulin, put onto fast acting (analog) insulin and for 7yrs my bm's were all over the place, hba1c's were always over 12!Managed to get back onto the human insulin...

why does'nt my insulin work anymore??

Tried lantus and Novorapid for 7yrs after having perfect control with Insulatard and Actrapid. Problem with Novorapid is that it's effect only lasts 3hrs, Lantus phases out after 12hrs. I got put back onto Insulatard and Actrapid, Insultard lasts 20hrs and Actrapid has an 8hr window. My...

    hi new to forum

Hi Townie, Best advice i can give is to speak with the Doctor and ask to be taken off the Lantus. There are numerous complaints similar to your's, medical staff are aware of the issues with analogue insulins and do change you if you ask.

    Insulin Resistance

Funnily enough, Glargine & Novorapid cost more than Insulatard & Actrapid. Add on the daft tablets they want to give you to help the Glargine along and you wonder what they are doing. It's not a case of insulin resistence, it's a case of analogue Insulins just doesn't work. You can carb count...

    Insulin Resistance

Hi, I was on 50 plus units of Lantus a night and anything from 40-50units of Novorapid at meals. It just wasn't working, got changed back to Insulatard and Actrapid, all is fine and i am taking 36 of Insulatard and 32-36 at meal times of Actrapid. BM's are 4-7 all day long. Actrapid has a life...
