My opinions are likely to get modded out on here, so will keep them to myself. Just thought it would be interesting to see the opinions in here

    Sugar Free Treats

Oh how we are all so different. I love the Magnum No Sugar Vanilla Caramel. Bolused for the 20g of carb and levels stayed level(ish) for the next few hours

My daughter wont take her insulin

Even after setting it up and getting all your basal/bolus settings worked you still need to be doing occasional basal testing and alterations on your pump. Benefits = micro bolusing ie being able to give a tenth of a unit instead of a whole unit and being able to set up different basal rates...

My daughter wont take her insulin

I don't think a pump would be the right choice in this case. As she is basically making a stand against her diabetes having something attached to you 24/7 say "Hey I am diabetic" wont help. It is a lot more "faff" with carb counting and BG testing etc.

    Pump Accessories

A pump belt is a must for sleeping. I move a LOT when in bed so I have a Hid-in belt for bed. Possibly a silicon skin from your pump manufacturer would be a good idea as well

My daughter wont take her insulin

I can just about remember my teen years. I totally rebelled with my T1D. My DSN at the time showed me a video of what can happen to you if you dont take your insulin. It was pretty horrific truth be told.....with foot ulcers, amputees etc. It bucked me up fairly quickly on taking my jabs...

    2 Strawberries = 2g of carbs

I am sooooooo glad we are all so very different! Went strawberry picking last year, and being on a pump I gave myself 2 units of insulin over 1 hour. I ate more than I picked (and I picked a LOT). BGs stayed stable over the next few hours.

How does one know what type you are

Diabetes "type" doesn't change, it is more likely a mis-diagnoses Edited to make more sense :)

Are you open about diabetes or embarrassed about it?

If you are type 1 then people you know, friends and work colleagues could, potentially, safe your life if you ever had a bad hypo

Nurses failing to administer insulin correctly

I wouldn't report her BUT I would make sure she didn't inject me again AND tell her why I wouldn't let her do it again. How can you get an insulin jab wrong?
