    Does T1 slow down aging?

When I was 40 I was told by a woman that she thought that I was 26. Other people have commented that they could not believe my age and my postman regularly calls me young man which is not appropriate for a man around 50, me not him. It's not diabetes that does this because diabetics tend to...

    Question around energy supplement

Coconut oil would be your best bet IMO. It's used by sports professionals due to it's quick energy availability. It is quickly digested and does not need to get to the colon which would delay it's availability. No carbs at all just a high energy source. You just need to find a way of making it...

    Gammy Feet

It might be worth trying Benfotiamine and/or B12 Methylcobalamin. Look for a suitable dose and maybe start with a low dose and work up slowly, testing your blood sugar regularly to see how it affects you. Be extremely careful until you know their affects on your diabetic control! If you inject...

    Is marijuana good for diabetes?

I've not gone through the whole thread but the most important question must be, "Is it available on prescription? lol" jk Note: I have never used drugs and don't intend starting.

How many eggs do you eat per week?

Unless I missed it, I think that I eat the most, 35 a week, which is down a bit from 42. Cholesterol is up from 3.5 to 4.9 which might not all be the eggs because I now eat loads of Saturated fat. Total cholesterol is a total waste of a number IMO.

    Cholesterol and alternatives to statins

Bacillus Coagulans (a bacteria), in studies, has been shown to lower high cholesterol. It has been used in a patented medicine along with other more natural substances. I don't remember the medicines name unfortunately, but that info might give you something to search for. Soluble fibre can...

    personal question. please answer

For Thrush give some Bacillus Coagulans a try. It's meant to be very good against fungi and yeasts. You could get some capsules and culture some and make a yoghurt and then use that for your problem.

    Porridge with dried strawberries...

Porridge with FOS to sweeten, some virgin coconut oil for taste and energy and some Bio yoghurt for the immune system. I adored this. Now on v low carb so it's out and I miss it :(

how high and how low have you been?

Highest, errm I don't remember exactly but not that high. Maybe 22. Very rare. Lowest 0.9 mmol/L with One Touch Ultra, conscious and performing a complex task of boiling some milk ready to make some yoghurt. I wasn't aware of the low BS until I did a test. Shocked and couldn't believe it so I...

    What meter/monitor do you use?

GlucoRX Nexus is the meter that my GP moved me to because the strips are cheaper than the One Touch Ultra that I was using. A bit of a fiddly meter with only one button so it won't appeal to the techy types that like their meter to do everything. Despite what I have read, the readings are...

How many eggs do you eat per week?

That sounds like what I am about to try. I haven't eaten eggs in about 20+ years but purchased a large box (15) of them last night. Along with bacon, chicken, pollock and cod because I am about to go carb free as soon as I can ween myself off all the carb foods. Then I will be able to try out...

    "Hypo fit"

I've had quite a few over the years and broken two bones while fitting because of them and those were some of the less dramatic ones I have experienced. Some were extremely scary.

    cinnamon

It's a cheap spice so why are people paying for capsules when a lvl teaspoon could be taken in some water? It does stimulate the circulation and blood flow. In fact many of the hot spices will do that such as cayenne and ginger. Olive leaf extract can lower the blood glucose. However that...

    I use about 100 a fortnight.

Don't know whether to get the flu jab

I don't bother with flu jabs, I throw the letter in the bin. I don't get colds or flu any more because I make use of the natural immune system boosting properties of bacteria and fibre which works very well for me. I used to get every cold and flu going around before I started this approach and...

Around 10 Finger Pricks And No Blood!?

Get a better lancing device as some are absolutely useless. The one that came with my new meter was hopeless and I frequently had to do 3 finger pricks to get enough blood on the deepest setting. I changed to a MultiClix and use 1.5 most of the time and get plenty of blood now :) The Multiclix...

    Hypnotherapy/hynpobirthing and hypos

I cannot say that I have heard about hypnosis helping hypo warnings. The hypnotherapist that I used didn't mention anything about it. She knew that I was diabetic because I made sure I told her and I did say before each session that I would join her in a couple a minutes after I tested my BS...

    Hypnotherapy/hynpobirthing and hypos

I have visited a hypnotherapist in the past and always did a blood test immediately before going into the room because deep relaxation can cause the BS to lower. This was quite deep hypnosis and far deeper than you could possibly get using self hypnosis. I could get myself quite deep using self...

    How low can you go?

I've had a 0.9 myself and I was making some yoghurt at the time which means measuring milk, adding some extra powdered milk to boost protein and speed it up and reduce setting time, boiling a very large pan of milk and testing temperatures. I did not realise that my BS was so low until I decided...

Blood Glucose Monitors - which one?

The GlucoRX lancing device is hopeless, extremely poor IMO. At times I had to do three pricks in order to get enough blood to do a test and the drop size needed is very small which indicates how poor the lancing device is. I visited my hospital nurses to ask them about lancing devices and I...
