    Have you asked if they are withdrawing the urine glucose strips? They are cheaper alternative to keep an eye on your sugar levels going high.

    For me I was put on insulin when I was on 2000mg metformin, 320mg Gliclazide and 45mg Piaglitazone with a HBA1C of 19.8.

    You'll probably move on to metformin when diet and exercise is not enough. I taken 10 years to max my 3 types of tablet and have to go on insulin.
