Type 2 Opposite to expected Blood sugar results

Thanks for your reply, it does seem that I am getting more and more complicated! My fasting BS is around 9-9.5 After exercise following the Eggs&bacon my BS seems to stay around 8 and yes I have checked this later in the day. But my testing is haphazard. I think I need to approach this in a much...

Have you been told not to test your blood sugars?

I was told that it was not necessary for Type2 Diabetics to test their blood by our diabetic nurse. She excused this by saying it was not her but the Government that were against it as it did no good. She inferred that we were too stupid to understand the results. I have since persuaded my...

Type 2 Opposite to expected Blood sugar results

Next chapter of the saga... I had BF of cereal today and as predicted my BS spiked at 12.5, later (13.30) after 2 hours of stacking logs, it was 5.9. So my dilemma is do I have a cereal for BF with spike, then have low BS for the rest of the day or have eggs & bacon and have my BS steady most...

Thanks for your reply, I have noticed this effect many times, it seem to be quite consistent. I have seen that after the cereal BF I do have a spike in BS. Your suggestion of a food diary is a good one.

Type 2 Opposite to expected Blood sugar results

If I have a cereal (full of carbs) for breakfast after my half hour walk at midday my BS drops to 4.5-5.5. But if I have egg and bacon (all protein no carbs) after my half hour walk at midday my BS is 9-10, opposite to what I would have expected. Can anyone give me an explanation?

Thank you for that I may well cut out breakfast and I will check the carbs on labels more carefully.

Thank you for your comments. I have never heard of a blood Ketone monitor! I will look into getting one. Although I have been diabetic2 for 10 years I obviously -have not gained the expertise that most of you seem to have achieved.

I have just joined and it seems that compared to everyone else I am a very poor diabetic. Many of the postee's have blood sugar levels that I can only dream of (fasting levels between 4-6) mine are between 9-10. Others say they have been on low carb for a month or 2 and they have lost stones...
