    Insulin pump

Had an OmniPod for about 2 years now. Wouldn't want to change back. When people ask me about it, I say "when I was diagnosed had 2 injections a day. A few years later, 4 injections a day for flexibility then 5 a day for better control, now I am on 483* injections a day for flexibility and...

Please read before choosing a pump!

I have been type 1 for 34 years. I find the Omnipod brilliant although haven't tried other systems. I shower with it, swim with it and find it comfortable.

    Omnipod not sticking!!

On my arm and leg, never had an issue. On my stomach, I use off the shelf surgical tape. Although these ones sound faulty, my diabetes specialist said to use fragrance free antiperspirant if I thought they were not sticking well.

    They're still trying folks...

I was diagnosed with type 1 in the early 80's and although my Mum had developed type 1 diabetes in her 30's (developed more than 7 years after the birth of her youngest) they said it was no more than a coincidence I had been diagnosed. When my older brother was diagnosed with type 1 2 years...

    They're still trying folks...

Interesting read. I feel better automated management and vaccination is closer than a cure. I have heard of people on experimental software with CGM's and pumps automatically supplying bolus insulin and that Google are working on a CGM measuring tears. Unfortunately, these sorts of things can...

Reading the forums, a lot of people are saying they want the Omnipod but there PCT won't find it. Addenbrookes in Cambridge applied to the PCT for my funding and are directly supplying me with my pods.

How do you carry your Omnipod PDM

Ordered direct from Ypsomed. Unfortunately the case covers the USB port but like with my phone, I feel it will be protected from knocks so carrying loose in pocket seems fine.

How do you carry your Omnipod PDM

Been looking at phone and camera cases as I find the case included with the PDM a bit big. Have got one of the Gel cases for the PDM and ordered a torch case with belt clip that the glucose sticks and lancet should fit in. In cold whether, fine can wear a coat with lots of pockets but if I dare...

How do you carry your Omnipod PDM

The Omnipod is great. I really like it! You need to carry the PDM. You also need to carry a wallet, phone and keys. My pockets are a bit full. Currently I carry the Omnipod PDM, lancet and strips in a blood meter case. I then put that in my pocket. Are bulging pockets, a man bag or a bum bag...

    Which pump?!

It is the lack of remote. I like the idea of leaving the pump where it is. Not keen on the idea of un clipping the pump to read the screen or enter carbs. The more I look at the Omnipod, the more I like it. A disposable 3 day pump you don't have to touch and don't need to clip to a strap or...

    Which pump?!

I have been offered the following: Medtronic 640g (this is a new model that will be available next year) Animas Vibe Omnipod Roche Insight Looks like the standard list. Can't find out much about the new 640g so based on the current Medtronic, it's between the Omnipod or Insight. Thinking...

    Pump question

Thank you ElyDave. I like the Cellnovo because of the excercise detector. The Accu-check would be 2nd choice from what I have read. As an active person yourself, is the excercise thing on the Cellnovo a gimik?

    Pump question

I will be started on pump therapy next year. Looking forward to it. Mine will be funded by the Primary Care Trust. My question is what models do Primary Care Trusts fund? I hope the CELLNOVO is funded as after researching a few models, this has the best features. What models are other members on...

Why do TV programs say you need insulin to treat a Hypo

We all know that is the worst thing you can do. In a fictitious Sky TV program called Touch, a man had collapsed on the floor with a low blood sugar. His friend told him to go to the fridge where he could find his insulin. On the ITV Anglia news last night (25th September 2013) there was a...

Do you tell people you have diabetes?
