He thought he was ok with what he was doing with no drugs for 2 years since covid and his last diabetic appt however when he eventually got tested he was 24 and should be 7 so they put him straight on metformin, he had 2 days in day clinic on beds with drip and injection in stomach, now he’s...

    Metformin

Hello! I was attracted to this post by its title. My OH seems to be allergic to Metformin each time he takes it he gets really bad diarrhoea, they have been experimenting with Glylacide at the same time. He is also very thin, allergic to eggs and struggles to eat enough calories for his active...

    HBA1c now 124

Thank you porl69 for your positive advice. We went to the surgery today to get a GP appt but have been told to phone after 6 tomorrow as there are none available so he has gone off to work. Apparently they said yesterday to book a GP appt but he couldn't get one until the end of December

Ah, that's interesting! Thanks for that! He couldn't remember what it was last time and he has been on the {new drug} Pioglitazone since then so he must have assumed they were working! I don't keep a tight rein on him so I assumed it was working

    Unexpected HBA1C check

Hello I am interested to see that your nurse was talking about cakes and pastries as my OH has just come back with a high HBA1c and we was previously told to eat pies, pastry, pecan slices and the like KR

In our surgery the GP only refers to the diabetic nurse and it seems to me they just push the drugs. Apparently they told him its not diet related....? I know it's not about 'fatness' but he has some sort of thing going on in his head that because he is NOT overweight then there is nothing...

I would say his BMI is very low. He has got a blood glucose reading machine but he says it makes his fingers sore. Someone needs to give him a shake but he wont listen to me!

Hi all, not posted on here recently we thought everything was under control. However OH has returned from his standard nurse appt in surgery with the news that his HBA1c is now back up to 124 despite being on 1 x Pregabalin per day. He did not want me to go with him to the appt so I have to...

    Glidipion

Hi I don’t think he would come on here, it was a PC related task that started the wobbly this morning. He likes a simple life. Yes he has a ham and salad sandwich and a yoghurt or fruit at lunchtime. I estimate his daily Cals out at around 5,000

    Glidipion

He's going to start again but he was doing it so much that he ended up with sore fingers Sadly he is allergic to eggs so whereas a vl carb diet might suit me as I can bulk up on eggs etc he is limited to cheese and meat which he finds boring and he wants eg a sandwich at lunchtime

Hi again So no one has replied! No side effects so far BUT this morning he had the most horrendous temper tantrum (panicking about insurance) and went ballistic before his breakfast could this be a blood sugar thing?
