Thank you, an interesting post to read. Funnily enough I got notice of requirement for hba1c test yesterday, I've started my kick a little late, but it will provide motivation and I'll delay booking the test for a short while..

Certainly low carbing and not eating meat is a tricky thing, but I'm not cutting it out entirely, I just prefer to know where my meat came from. I can't always do this but I can cut out - or at least reduce consumption of - some things where I've no idea.

It's a complex combination of things, a realisation I've been coming too over many years. I won't go into details but it touches on environemnt and cruelty, intensive farming and other things too. I'm not going Vegan, or even vegetarian, not entirely, but I am cutting down and trying to be...

Thank you. I'm cutting down on Coffee to one espresso a day due to the Hypertension. Love Pork Scratchings but I'm trying to reduce my reliance on meat products. The Cheese is a good one, I shall investigate.

Thanks, I found it so easy last time I assumed I could just drop into it again, but I've forgotten all my little things that I did to keep on low carb. For instance when I got to work I'd have a low carb protein shake which was quite filling and let me go most of the morning without craving...

Thank you, that's what I'm hoping for, but there are times each day when it's difficult for me, especially where I've got myself into bad habits..

Thank you, yes, I love my eyes and toes.. want to keep them, that is good motivation. I've started logging post meal again, I hadn't been for a while. It's good to see readings at acceptable levels.

Thank you for your support. :-) I'm afraid having two young kids rather precludes removing all carbs from the house, it's not difficult for me to resist Spuds, pasta rice etc.. but the crisps are another matter. I also find that I'm an all or nothing kind of guy, doing exercise motivates the...

    Post accident struggles

When I was first diagnosed Type 2, 2 and a half years ago, my hba1c was through the roof, within 3 months using low carb and exercise it was down to 26, a year later, 25. Things were going well and I felt great, remission was on the cards and possibly coming of the Metformin. Sadly, shortly...

Giving it a go with no metformin

I've been off my Metformin for a while now. It went fine until November/December when Christmas duties got in the way of my exercise regime, then my levels started to rise a little. Now I'm getting back into it and they're coming back in again. So I'd suggest you exercise regularly and keep...

Thanks, at the moment I'm only on Gliclazide in the morning and my readings are still fairly high. I'm testing 3 - 4 times a day which should be enough until readings drop.

Howdy, diagnosed 3 days ago. Nearly 50, Metformin and Gliclazide. 26.2 at diagnosis down to 14 this morning, so some way to go but heading in the right direction. Surprised at just how many things have Carbs in them, sugar free mints for instance seem to be mostly Carbs, so now I've cut...
