    Android APS and extended carbs

Would anyone mind explaining to me, in really simple terms, how to go about using extended bolus/carbs with Android APS? I've tried researching and asking in the AAPS Facebook group, but all you ever get there is "READ THE DOCS!!". Well, the docs aren't too great at explaining a lot of things...

    Omnipod itching

Yep! I've only been podding a few months, but the last 5-6 pods have been really itchy and I've been left with quite a nasty rash where the pod was. It's odd, because normally I'm not the kind to react to that kind of thing - my skin isn't particularly sensitive or anything like that. While I...

Starting pump therapy and I'm stuck

Thank you @helensaramay that's really helpful. I probably should've mentioned in my OP that I'm not really all that fussed between tubes and patches. I've tried out the dummy Omnipod and to be honest, I was surprised at how small it was! Was expecting something closer to a deck of cards. Plus...

Starting pump therapy and I'm stuck

Good news! I've been offered a switch from MDI to pumping. Bad news! I have no idea where to start. My consultant has said I can pretty much have whichever pump I want, which is awesome, but I just don't know what to choose and why. They seem to be pushing the T-Slim and Medtronic 640g models...

Type 1 Testing insulin activity length

I'm completely aware of carb counting, and I do that, but that isn't what I'm asking. NovoRapid is rated to last between 3 and 5 hours. I want to know how to test whether it lasts 3, 4 or 5 hours in my body

Type 1 Testing insulin activity length

Hi all, Is there a way to test how long bolus insulin remains active in my system? I'm having a few problems getting my insulin to work correctly and the dosage right, and one of the things I think I should understand is how many hours my NovoRapid remains active, at least while sedentary. Thanks

    Do you stock pile Insulin

You laugh, but I do have boxes in the shed fill of tins of beans, tomatoes, chickpeas etc and bags of rice and pasta, plus a chest freezer fill of frozen veg and bread. There's no point in having insulin if I don't have any food to use it with!

    Do you stock pile Insulin

I'm not stockpiling per se. I am ordering exactly the same amount at the same time each month, but I am using less, and therefore each month's supply lasts a little longer, maybe 6 weeks instead. By the time the end of March comes around, I still won't have changed my ordering habits (and...

    Post meal double spikes

I am fairly certain basal is OK. I've done done basal testing over the last few weeks and things have looked good. In fact, if you look at my graph ahead of lunch today it was pretty much perfectly flat, with an ever so slight decline

    Post meal double spikes

Here we go again. Post lunch second spike again today. I over injected, and it was coming down just nicely (in fact xDrip was predicting a hypo in about 90 minutes time during that initial drop). Nothing eaten other than lunch and we're on the way back up again. This may sound like a daft...

I am, and was doing fine tests too. They were coming in roughly the same

    Post meal double spikes

I don't think it is. I don't feel stressed, Christmas is all sorted, work is going well, home life is good. I am perhaps getting stressed that my sugars are all over the place and it's a self fulfilling prophecy but I'm not convinced on that either.

    Post meal double spikes

Do any of you get double spikes like this? My control the last few days has been pretty dreadful, I just can't seem to get the post meal levels back down. And I'm having issues like on the graph with a second spike hours after eating. Just when I thought my sugars were coming down to normal...

    Type 1 Post meal spikes

Mini basal test this morning, and it seems to be going OK. These were only done with Freestyle Libre - not blood. Woke up with a reading of 7.1 at 7:15am 6.6 at 7:28 6.2 at 0:25 6.1 at 9:40 6.0 at 10:20 5.8 at 10:45 5.8 at 11:10 5.9 at 11:40 6.7 at 11:59 (but I had just had a cup of tea with...

    Type 1 Post meal spikes

I think you may be correct on the basal points. Last night/this morning for example; I injected my Tresiba at 10pm like normal and went to bed, woke up at about 7am with a slight hypo reading of 3.7. Ate 3 Jelly Babies and snoozed for a bit. Tested again just after 9 and my reading was 7...

    Type 1 Post meal spikes

On the dose length question I only have a rough idea and this is based on the previously mentioned 1630-1700 rapid fall which is probably wrong. Because my glucose seems to peak and stay high for 3-4 hours, my assumption was that the NovoRapid lasts for about 4.5hrs in my system. If there is a...

    Type 1 Post meal spikes

The chart after lunch looks more like this: IGNORE THE TIME ACROSS THE TOP: I hadn't updated the time on my hand held reader to everything is one hour ahead of the actual times these scans were done. So, you can see the dip after 1400 because of the 45 minute gap between injecting and...

    Type 1 Post meal spikes

The day, and this morning, panned out like this: 1315 - Inject NovoRapid 1400 - Eat beans of toast 1500 - Starts to rise 1800 - Reaches peak of 11 1815 - Inject half a unit of NovoRapid 1900 - Went for a 1 hour run 2100 - Hypo and slightly over compensated with Jelly Babies 2130 - Ate a late...

    Type 1 Post meal spikes

Hi tim, This happens with most meals though - beans on toast was just the example from yesterday's lunch. My usual lunchtime meal is sandwich (in a wholemeal roll, with "non/low carb" fillings e.g. ham and cheese), packet of crisps, bit of fruit (usually an apple, banana or a couple of small...
