    Occasional vodka???

I can drink 2 or 3 glasses of dry red wine or two or 3 small beers over an evening without any significant changes in my blood glucose. I rarely drink spirits but the result would be the same :)

    LCHF Diet 3 years in.

Stick at it LaoDan, It can be hard at first. I had serious energy dips, weight loss (which i don't need) and lots of leg cramps in the early weeks. It can take a while for your body to get used to low carbs. I really had to crank up my fat intake.

If anyone reading this is new to the forum and trying to deal with their RH you are in the right place for advice. Whilst not “experts” certain people on here are extremely knowledgable on all aspects of RH and will give you great advice and support. Lamont D and Brunneria to name but two. I...

    LCHF diet advice

I have been away for over a week and whilst I have found it a little difficult to keep as strictly to my LCHF diet as when at home I definitely feel better. The permanent heaviness in my legs and lack of energy have both gone and the night leg cramps are less of a problem. They haven't gone...

    LCHF diet advice

Hi, no I am not on any drugs whatsoever. The only thing I am taking at the moment is anti histamine (hay fever starts early here ) What would you suggest instead of low carb bread? I find eating more butter and cheese easier if i have something with a crunch to put them on.

    LCHF diet advice

Thanks for your reply. I do not eat meat and haven't done for around 40 years so the bacon and red meat is a no go I am afraid. The reason I am having whey protein ( very low carb version) is to try to prevent weight loss which I am desperate to avoid. When I was having tests for pancreatic...

    LCHF diet advice

I am using lots of double cream, good job I love it. I have always been anaemic since childhood but do try to eat lots of spinach and greens now so should be ok. A whole blood count might be a good idea but I did have a load of blood tests last year as I had a suspected pancreatic cancer. All...

    LCHF diet advice

Do you think the very high protein could be to blame for my heavy legs and lack of energy? I have reduced it to around 145/150gms per day since Friday which is now around 30% of my daily calorie intake. Yes I do look like a bean pole, I have done since I was 16 years old but I have learnt to...

Yes I wondered about low potassium but I eat lots of green leaf salads and spinach, salmon, high fat low carb yogurt all everyday so I would have thought my levels were ok.

    LCHF diet advice

I have always been under weight for my height. I have been between 60 and 65 kgs all my adult life and always been a very active and heathy person - apart from RH. The only advise doctors ever gave me was to eat more often, eat more carbs and drink protein shakes. I dropped initially from 63...

    LCHF diet advice

    LCHF diet advice

Thanks. I have got rid off the sweet stuff a while before I started LCHF over 6 weeks ago and to be honest I don't miss it. The only thing I miss is beer. My blood sugar levels are great, no spikes no crashes no hypos but I thought I would feel better than I do energy wise with the high fats...

    LCHF diet advice

Originally when I was finally told by a doctor that I had RH he advised me to eat smaller meals every 2 hours which was really sort of what I was doing already in the hope that it would keep my blood sugar levels at a sufficient level to avoid a hypo. My carb intake was probably quite high...

    LCHF diet advice

The problem is they all assume weight loss is desired or weight maintained. I want to increase my weight a little so obviously I need more calories from extra protein but am I over doing it by having over 180g per day and could that cause me problems? Also will such a high fat intake cause problems?

    hypoglycaemia

Thanks. Up until around a year ago I used to get lots of cramp, legs, arms, feet on a fairly regular basis at any time of the day or night, something I have always had since childhood. Then it mysteriously stopped and I have never really understood what I was doing differently. LCHF has...
