Hi all, Thank you soo much for all your replies, she finally was down by Saturday lunchtime and has been pretty normal since. I wasn't aware that the resistance kicks in after 12 so will keep that in mind for future occasions. She had a nosebleed Friday pm, normal temp but that's normally a...

    Type 1 Work issue

Hi there, I am so sorry you have had to go through this at work. I am a mum to a 9 year old type 1, so have no experience myself, but really trying to bring her up with the attitude of do it where it needs to be done, descrete but where you stand/sit. I know it has been said that the toilets...

Carb contents in restaurants, parliament petition

Hi all, Not sure if any of you have seen the petition for carb contents to be available in restaurants, but as a mom to a little one with type 1 it would be so much easier. As I won't yet chance the guess work, there are menu items we just avoid. If you want to sign, here's the link...

Need advice please no snack before bed will keep her up!

Thank you again, We will get there I'm sure. I couldn't agree more that they have not lived with it, which is why I am so grateful for all your forum guys suggestions. If I remember correctly the NICE Guidelines actually state that Levemir should be split, however they are being revised at the...

Need advice please no snack before bed will keep her up!

Thank you all for your replies. She has her tea at about 6.00/6.30pm and checked 2 hours later, then off to bed for about 9pm. Having usually had a snack and then levemir about 9.30. Would this still overlap? We have always done it like that but perhaps it is no longer working for her body that...

Need advice please no snack before bed will keep her up!

Hi all, My daughter (who's 9) has recently started having hypos before I go to bed. So she's checked after tea (roughly 8.30pm) and usually around a 7 so I give her a 15g snack. She then drops and drops until she hypos, around 11.30pm. I treat her, she doesn't come up, so treat again (knowing...

Use the FreeStyle Libre as a CGM alarm

My daughter has miaomiao and it has worked really well, especially through the night. I was guilty of over feeding before bed through worry of her dropping, but this is a safety net that alarms for whatever I want it set as. Gives peace of mind.

    Morning high, after breakfast

Hi, thanks for your reply. And I have passed on your kind words. She does do amazingly well. I have spoken to her dsn about it who has said she will have a look at her reads and come back to me. But I think they are just going to say increase her levimir which will then lead to a hypo before 12...

    Morning high, after breakfast

Many thanks for your quick response and advice. Can I please check: would I inject her an odd unit when I wake and then for her breakfast when she's up? If she has cereals (mainly school days due to breakfast club etc) it is mainly bran flakes or all bran...thought these were a little lower and...

    Morning high, after breakfast

Hi all, Just wondering if anyone is able to advise on what to do with my daughter's morning highs after breakfast or even just after a few mouthfuls. She has a perfect night remaining around a 5.0 - 6.0mmol/l and wakes up anytime between 6.30 - 9am on the same perfect reading and it doesn't...

Hi all, Sorry if this is going over the same ground again for you all. My daughter is 8 with a really tiny wrist. She has a libre currently used with only the reader that came with it and I am looking at the miao miao for the purpose of the alarms. I would like this to link to a watch without...

    NHS-funded Libre users needed

Hi, My 8 year old daughter is having one half term week. Rang the DSN as I had already brought the meter and sensors and asked if we would be OK to use or if they would rather us continue with test strips until our next appointment. They asked if we were self funding, I said yes and they said...

Travelling the world with T1 Diabetes

I have to say you are an inspiration and I am hopeful that I can bring my 7 year old daughter up to have the same positive attitude. Having been diagnosed in Feb, even though it is very hard as a child and a parent to accept that this little person has to change so much and to willingly take an...

    T1D - Child - carb advice

Hi, My daughter too was diagnosed T1 at age 6, back in Feb this year. We too were told that she can eat whatever as long as it was covered by her insulin. We kept a diary of what she was eating and compared this to the BG results and like Cath has stated the risk of Hypos and Hypers were...

Hello and could do with some advice please

Hi, Thank you again :) We do have a half unit pen, and she has had her Levemir dropped from 5 the week after diagnosis on 16th Feb, to 4 and the past 2 weeks to 3 units. It seems that since her diagnosis she has needed less and less insulin each week. I have asked the diabetic team if her...
