    Advice with freestyle sensor!

I use opsite flexifix when swimming to cover my sensor. I buy it from Amazon. I usually put a piece of paper over the sensor first so the opsite is not directly on the sensor which makes it easier to peel off after I've swam.

    Hypo during the night

Thanks for the replys. Yes I do have a half pen for bolus. The last 2 nights have been after days with a reasonable amount of exercise. Saturday we went for a reasonably long walk and yesterday digging the vegetable patch over and other gardening jobs.

    Hypo during the night

Yes my bloods confirm I am low. My decline starts about 12 so takes 3 hours to go low. During the day I'm generally OK heading off any highs or lows. Main problem is when I go to an exercise class or long walk.

    Hypo during the night

I always seem to go low during the night at around 3am. I take levemir 5units 8am 3units 8pm which I have recently changed to 10pm. But this has not made a difference. I eat relatively low carbs usually no more than 30g per meal. I take 1unit per 10 gms carbs of Humalog. My evening blood sugars...

    Type 1'stars R Us

Loving this thread. It's great to hear that so many of you have ups and downs frequently unexplained like I do. At times I think my bs should be better without so many highs and lows after 28 years, but I suppose thats the nature of the beast! Wasn't feeling brilliant yesterday and couldn't get...

    Pop socket

I received 2 new sensors today for my freestyle libre. Also included was a Pop Socket, but no explanation of what it is. All it says is 'you can stick this to the back of your phone'. I phoned Abbots to ask what it was for, the person answering the phone said they did not know and would find...

    Highs and Lows

Hi Bought the books, and started to read sugar surfing. Very interesting so far, especially when a non diabetic has such fluctuations in their sugar when eating, or a low during the night. Thanks again for the help.

    Highs and Lows

After 28yrs as Type1 diabetic I'm going through a rough patch. I had a shock early last year when a type 1 friend died without warning of a heart attack. I had been going along OK until then, not the best diabetic but no major issues. I decided to tighten up my control. I bought a freestyle...

    Heart Attack

Thanks Art Of Flowers How does the mortality of 10 and 20 years correlate to the age that you become diabetic? I am type one and became diabetic at 35. My neighbour became diabetic at 18 and a work colleague's daughter at 4. This statistic of 20 years - how much consideration does it take into...

    Basal insulin split dose units

I am concerned about the balance of taking my basal insulin. I split my basal insulin 8am and 8pm. I started with 7units am and 7 units pm. Over the years I have gradually changed to take 9units am and 5units pm. This was to stop night time hypo, but I'm not sure that this was the correct thing...

    Heart Attack

Hi I'm new to this forum but have been type I diabetic for 27 years. I am 62. I'm just starting to panic that I may die suddenly from a heart attack. I have no complications so far! I know of 3 people who have done this. I know one was a smoker, 1 was not managing their diabetes very well don't...
