Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

7.1 this morning, down from 8.3 yesterday but both higher than I would like but I am feeling unwell and think this may well be having an impact.

    Such a lot to Learn

Welcome, take a deep breath, I think we all felt like that initially. There is a lot to learn and you will learn it but you don't need to know it all right away. Someone will be along to give you the information they give to new forum members. This is a very friendly and informative forum and...

6.4 for me so it is slowly coming down, this is the lowest reading I have had so far :-)

i need to get back on track

I did the same, started well then life got stupidly stressful and I lost my way. I have been back on it for a couple of weeks and I have to say I feel so much better for it and I am reducing the risk of long term complications. Think of how good you felt back then and give yourself the kick up...

    change in diet

I am n week two of metformin 1x500mg, after the first couple of days of discomfort I haven't found it too bad. I have had problems twice, both on days when I had increased carbs. I do find I sometimes feel a little bit sick around lunchtime/early afternoon but as I take my metformin with my...

    Type 2 Life

7.8 for me this morning, it is slowly coming down but is always the highest reading of the day (unless I eat something ridiculous).

    Help

Plenty of water and a bit of exercise may see them drop in the short term. In the longer term reduced carb intake seems to be the best way to keep them consistently lower.

    Need support...

Sorry I think my reply crossed with your posts. You have done the right thing by going to the GP they should be able to diagnose or rule it out relatively easily.

    Need support...

Have you been diagnosed? If so is it type 1 or 2? Perhaps if we know a little more we can offer some support and reassurance. I was diagnosed type 2 about 1 year ago, I started off well then live got super busy and stressful and it took a back seat. More recently I have taken control again and...

    Need support...

There is lots of support on this forum, I am still relatively new myself. I am assuming that you think a diagnosis is likely? When you know what it is you are dealing with there is lots and lots of support about the best way to manage it. Someone will be along and post some information which is...

    Early days but....

I am still new to this and no expert but I think if you have the sauce with meat over cauliflower or salad you may be surprised how little it affects your blood glucose levels. I couldn't check mine after my meal out because I have run out of test strips (rookie mistake I had ordered them but...

    Early days but....

I had a very delicious tamarind paneer dish which was very good indeed. I also had a chapati and shared a starter of veg pakora which was not ideal on the carb front but was all very good. I did notice a difference with the metformin irritating my stomach so I am glad to be back to LCHF today...

    Early days but....

It will be a meal in a restaurant, we haven't made a choice where yet. I was thinking about Indian because it would be easier to miss the rice and bread and stick to veg curry. I find vegetarian meals in restaurants tend to be pasta or pastry based. I am a bit nervous about it but I guess these...

    Prediabetes who's right?

I felt much the same when I first started looking at it, I am also veggie so even more limited. However I came to the realisation that it was the carbs that had caused the problems I have and I could continue as I was and expect my condition to worsen and medications to increase or I could try...

    Prediabetes who's right?

I think you may not get one direct answer on this. The advice given by NHS etc is that carbohydrates such as oats are fine as part of a healthy diet. However if you read a lot of the personal experiences of people with type 2 it seems that in order to reduce blood glucose eating low...
