    What's going on??

I too was frustrated at the slow weight loss, given that I had cut down massively on carbs. After 13 months,I'm down by 2stone,4lbs. So not a quick ,huge loss but I'm happy with my overall health and appearance. Weightlifting and hiit has 'reshaped' me. We are all different and I bet you will...

    Should I test myself?

I think if I were you, I'd go low carb for 3 months, then ask for another blood test, say you are worried maybe? Then depending on the outcome, you could get a meter and take it from there. Lots of good advice on this forum from people with experience.

    symptoms for pre-diabetes

Yes,I had extreme thirst, fatigue, and running to the loo for about 3 months. So I went for a 'finger prick' test at a pharmacy. When the number turned out to be a bit high,I was sent to chat with the doc,who sent me for a full blood test. He explained the numbers to me and said he'd like to see...

    Type 2 Celeriac

    Sliced ultra thin,I use a mandolin,layer in a dish,season,cover with cream,bake for about 45 mins. Delish! Good with any roast meat,cold ham,steak,etc.

Whats the most important thing you have learned along the way of your Type2?

That food is more than just fuel. It's also the way to control b.sugars and encourage a healthy way of eating, almost like medicine if all tests reflect the effort put in. I've also learned that food companies love to put sugar in sooo many products, just to satisfy our tastes. Shun them !

    Hi...My Type2 Experience

Great stuff ! This echoes my experience too. Not a diabetic now after 3 months of low carbing and getting the numbers down. Mindful of the dangers tho and intend, like you, to continue doing the same. Grateful that my doctor shocked me early enough for me to get a grip on my greedy ways !

    Blood test shows prediabetes.

Yes,losing weight is often the best thing to reduce your reading of 47. Then another blood test in 3 months time. Lots of good advice on this forum, one size doesn't fit all! I got my numbers down following the lchf diet, but be patient,I had to change a lot of things I ate and recorded a steady...

    Gaining weight :-(

I too was disappointed not to lose more weight despite cutting carbs drastically 12 weeks ago. But a steady 1 pound a week later,I feel this is a good and healthy way to manage my "diet". So don't give up,look forward to the good test results ,find out all kinds of useful advice on this forum.

Why is milk a problem? Cream in drinks and on berries seems to be OK on lchf diet.

    Disillusioned!

Thanks seadragon! Lots of good advice there. I would like to be able to run 10k next year, maybe a parkrun first. But I'm getting ahead of myself, need to get the lchf diet part of my life permanently. Doing OK,crave sweets while watching TV,and have cut down on fruits which I used to gorge on...

    Disillusioned!

Thanks for all your input,it's somehow reassuring to know that there is a large community out there with similar dietary problems and the quest for solutions to them. Today I rejoined the local gym,a small step to fitness after being sedentary for 2 or 3 years. Finding out about "hidden" carbs also.

So do I test blood before and after each meal to get a picture of what is good or bad for me? Need to find out also what 50 grams of carbs looks like.

    Disillusioned!

I'm feeling comforted by the replies on this forum. Seems like we all have to find our own way to get results. Does anyone drink wine in moderation? I'd love a glass right now!

    Disillusioned!

Yes thanks for that. Must be more vigilant! Nuts, cheese, bacon, all of these I love and have been eating regularly. Doctor would frown at that.

    Disillusioned!

Will keep at it,maybe my portion sizes are still too big. From being a big carb lover to this ,must be something I'm doing wrong!

    Disillusioned!

I'm prediabetic and have been advised to lose at least 2 stone. Need to get levels down. I'm clued up on nutrition and always cook meals from scratch. So why, after 7weeks of no bread, cakes, cereals, pasta etc have I lost only 3 pounds? I keep fairly active, but find jogging too difficult! I'm 63...
