Low Carb stopped working for me

Thanks Hiitsme. Tough question. The last 18 months has been a nightmare but like Elton John: I'm Still Standing. I don't feel stressed but am unsure how stress levels can be monitored objectively

Low Carb stopped working for me

Thanks Oldvatr. Have only just started testing but device I've got often doesn't work. Am fairly sure I eat less carbs now. Have never fasted in my life & am not keen to start now: I've no weight to lose - & I 'use' a lot of calories when exercising I guess there's no easy answers to this little...

Low Carb stopped working for me

Apologies if this has already been covered elsewhere but couldn't find it For approx 8 years have eaten low carb & exercised @ a fairly high level. Due factors outside my control had to stop exercising approx 18 months ago. Restarted 4 months ago & once again am exercising hard (including 3 or...

    Annual Check-up

That does ring true. I've long-subscribed to the ****-up theory of history (Hanlon's Razor, perhaps, if you enjoy philosophy. Time to uncork the vino, methinks ;)

    Annual Check-up

Feel free to say 'no' but what is the story? Wild guess: the nurse's name was Kali & in return for the tests you had to sell your soul to her. Thinks - I really must cut back on the vino ;)

    Annual Check-up

Thanks LittleGreyCat You're right about cricket. Tho' injuries prevented me from playing this year I still had lots of batting practice & got hit on the foot & little finger - thought I may have fractured each (fortunately hadn't) Actually, I have no fear of needles. I will try & work-out how...

    Annual Check-up

Good luck with that: not ideal but a way-forward Given that Diabetes is a factor in the severity of Covid I'm a little surprised that surgeries aren't prioritising annual reviews....!

    Annual Check-up

ah! a fellow cricket lover. Thanks Lamont I really must check-out cgm (not certain what that means) - must be a thread on it somewhere. Re fielding @ silly mid off - my days fielding there are gone - your 'reaction time' has to be 1st class. As for the ball seaming: I much prefer facing seam...

    Annual Check-up

Thanks Jim I don't selftest. There are few things in life that make me feel 'uneasy' but self-testing is 1. I'd sooner face a hard cricket ball bowled @ 70mph without pads, helmet & 'gentleman's protector' than self-test. I admit it: I'm a wimp!

Thanks ert. Would that life was that simple - when I asked several weeks ago I was told they would contact me but heard nothing

    Annual Check-up

if this has already been covered in another thread then do let me know please...... Since being diagnosed as T2 approx 6-7 years ago I've had an annual review in which I get told my HbaA1c. But my current review is late & I have no idea if/when it will happen. Life is too short to try phoning...

    Disappointing Hba1C Result

Thank you KK123, NicoleC1971, Resurgam & ziggy_w You've got me thinking My main thought is I'm an idiot.......! I'll explain in a bit more detail later but 1. the low carb bread I've been eating has changed; I also have the occasional Lidl 'roll' 2. I've not been exercising quite the same - more...

    Disappointing Hba1C Result

Hi All I suspect this question or something similar has already been posted but I can't find it Since being diagnosed with T2 approx 6 years ago I ignored NHS advice & went low carb. Since then my annual Hba1C has been in the range 34-38 However the most recent was 42 - wasn't expecting this...

    Exercise Videos for over 50’s

Just a thought on swimming: goggles (which you can even get with 'prescription lens'). I always hated swimming @ school - the chlorine affected me badly - but earlier this year I got some goggles (approx £20), had a few swimming lessons & surprised myself by finding I could swim breaststroke...

    Its not always about weight

Hi Bluetit1802 Here's a few things I enjoy (NB I have always tried to enjoy food; it's more than just fuel) For breakfast most days 3 poached eggs on 3 slices of low carb bread (I get my bread from the Low Carb Megastore; am sure there are other retailers but to minimise P&P I buy from just 1)...

    Its not always about weight

Hi Clacksman I share your frustration (I'm 6'4" tall, slim all my life, very fit, 84kg, BMI around 22.5) Since being diagnosed a few years ago so much of the advice has been about losing weight. 1 of the things that really annoys me is when diabetes gets mentioned on, say, news programmes &...
