    B.S. level constantly high

How old is he? What caused the rise in bs initially? Is he unwell? How long are you waiting after correcting? How frequently are you testing to see if levels are changing? What is the current figure? Sorry for all the questions but the best advice can only really be given when the facts are known.

    Hello

Well compared to my Pусский, your English is amazing :) Sorry, I misunderstood about you not having a meter. You seem to have a good understanding your diabetes and how diet and foods affect it. That will mean your health will benefit in the longer term. I was in your situation a long time ago...

    Hello

Hey @Eqolo Sorry to hear about your Type 1 diagnosis. I understand that English is not your first languange, but my understanding of what you have said, is that you do not currently have a blood glucose meter. If that is right - you need to get any glucose meter as soon as you can. Taking...

    Fresh needle for each injection?

I have to agree I'm exactly the same and change lancets once a month. Never had any problems or issues in over 20 years. Main reason is time - I once estimated for lancets alone I save myself a whole day per year (estimating 25secs to remove, safely dispose of and put in a new lancet).

    Better control and reduced insulin...

@Katson80 Well done on reducing your insulin requirements and stabilising your morning blood sugars. I can't help thinking that you could achieve the same results without resorting to an expensive, well-marketed diet of processed meal replacements and supplements. You should look into...

Thoughts on effects of puberty on type 1 diabetes?

Thanks @noblehead and agreed, it is already well-read on the shelf, and I would certainly recommend it to others. I'm sure you are right about his emotional moment at the weekend @BeccyB. I see you were diagnosed at the same age my son was. And it's good to hear from someone who went through...

Thoughts on effects of puberty on type 1 diabetes?

:D Yes, I felt very proud at his response! I have always made it clear to him that his diabetes is not some 'dirty little secret' that needs to be hidden away. If he needs to test or inject he should do so, just keeping in mind that not everyone likes needles or blood. That woman in the...

Thoughts on effects of puberty on type 1 diabetes?

All kids with diabetes are amazing and so are their parents. We should be proud to say that (even if they are not perfect!) My biggest fear of the teenage years is him rebelling against his diabetes and doing harm to himself. I am hoping, since he is not the only T1 in the family and that it...

10 year old nephew newly diagnosed

Let's hope that perhaps they were either mistaken or they were the smallest needles they had available at short notice and that he will get a usual supply of 4mm asap. I've been given 8mm instead of 6mm by the chemist before, and to be honest did not make much difference to me - but for kids...

10 year old nephew newly diagnosed

I think you could be right! Not all brands go to 4mm. I don't think you will find any needles branded as "children's" needles, I've never seen any. To my knowledge, the smallest thinnest guage available is 32G 4mm, my 11 year old son uses the 'Novofine Plus' brand and they are prescribed no...

I wish you a speedy recovery!!! Do you mind if I asked what triggered the DKA?

Thoughts on effects of puberty on type 1 diabetes?

Lol @Lorraine1973 and @mahola - maybe I did get lucky! And to think we were hoping to have one of each back in the day. Having twins really messes up careful plans like that, now I just tell them it was "buy one get one free" :P

Thoughts on effects of puberty on type 1 diabetes?

Ha ha yes, I have 14 year old twin boys as well and they are a bit of a handful (are girls really worse?? :) ) - in fact right now, the 11 year old is the mature one :p So I am kind of hoping he stays that way! Thanks for the welcomes: @Jaylee, @noblehead I am fully expecting the usual teenage...

Thoughts on effects of puberty on type 1 diabetes?

First time poster, long time reader of the forum. If this was just a question I would be asking "Does puberty affect Type 1 diabetes?" Obviously the answer is going to be 'yes' - since it has profound effects on the whole body and glucose control is a fickle beast at the best of times... Some...
