Hi Jim, I have been having awful cramps in my calves and feet. Now I'm on metformin and low carb (diagnosed in August), the cramps have almost gone away. I still get them now and again though.

    Blurry eyes

Hi and thank you for your help. I wear distance glasses and have a pair for computer use which I'm wearing all the time as they help make life a bit less fussy. I haven't tried the ready readers, but that's a definite thought. I'll look into it after the move - I haven't got time right now!!

1st attempt at low carb meal

Hi imperp, your first attempt sounds good to me! Although maybe not the bread. I started on the low carb programm 4 weeks ago and that, and SR metformin, has brought my sugars down to 12.6 2 hours after porridge. I'm finding the low carb program a really good help as it gives the info in bite...

    Blurry eyes

Thank you all for your helpful replies. I last had my eyes checked in the spring and needed my prescription slightly tweaked and all was fine until about 6 weeks ago. Since then, although my BS has improved, my eyes have worsened. I keep passing things to hubby to read for me as I can't see...

    Advice needed please

Hi mum2one. I was diagnosed as type 2 a few weeks ago. I've had an under-active thyroid for donkey's years and am thyroxine. I haven't been told that metformin (I'm on 4 x 500mg per day) and thyroxine don't mix (doesn't mean they do mix, I don't know!). Now I'm used to the metformin I've stopped...

    How do you.....

Can you get out to the seaside? being by the sea always helps calm and refresh me. Another thing that I find helps is cross stitching or knitting or crocheting - keeps my hands busy and the rhythmic movements calm my mind. I hope things improve for you soon. I know it can't be easy but hang on...

    Blurry eyes

Hi, I was diagnosed 3 weeks ago as type 2. Since before that I've noticed my sight getting worse. When I first saw the DN 3 weeks ago, she explained that high blood sugar can leave like a film on the eyes and it would get better. It has got worse to the point where I cannot read a book. I use a...

Please help ..How many carbs per meal lchf diet are you eating?

I found this all very helpful and interesting! My problem with diet is that I'm vegetarian and I've never liked fat! I was buying low fat cheese - should I be buying full fat? Also, porridge. That's how I start my day and is what the DN said was okay. What about milk? I buy semi-skimmed milk and...
