    Type 2 Liquid Metformin

I read that has some been withdrawn as it may contain cancerous ingredients. It will therefore not be prescribed and in very short supply. Not the GPs at all.

    Type 2 Protein powders.

I gave been using a DIET protein (whey) powder for 2 weeks as a dieting exercise. Pre dinner readings now down to 3.3 and other times of the day also way down. (no pun intended). It certainly is working for me.

    Sudden tiredness

Type 2 can make you a bit tired but I would suspect that the change of diet has much to do with it. You have to cut the rubbish out but you also have to make sure that you eat sufficient to carry on. I had the same at the start and still get tired periods but most of this feeling should pass.

    Flu jab

I have had it for the last few years but am missing it this year. I haven't had full blown flu but every time I have it, I feel rough for a few weeks. I will see how life goes without it.

£25 for doctors letter to allow Insulin on Plane.

Yes, I agree but with the increased security at airports it would be horrible to turn up and be refused admission onto the plane. Perhaps cheking with the airports and carriers involved would also be an option.

£25 for doctors letter to allow Insulin on Plane.

Many doctors charge £25 for all letters for anything, not just diabetes. Sorry Angrymum but whether you agree with it or not,you only have four options. 1. Try and find someone in the practice who will do it for no charge. 2. Change doctors to a surgery that would do it for no charge, 3. Accept...

13 yr old daughter Denied DLA

To be honest I don;t see why parents should get DLA just because they have a diabetic child. Just reminding them to take meds and having to go to their aid when required is a normal part of parenting. There are many other disabilities that affect people far worse and these do not receive DLA...

Do I have diabetes? Are my readings bad?

Whilst people on here are fantastic and really helpful doing their best, the only people who can really judge are doctors or diabetic nurses, Go get checked properly.

    Good news at docters! :)

I dropped 6 stone and my averages are now 5.5 - 5.6. but still on metformin.(2 slow release per day). It seems different doctors have such different ideas on how best to proceed.

Small 240/12 volt fridges are available from places like Argos for about £55. Can be cooled down before leaving then either topped up in the car or in your room. (Don't leave on with car engine off for long as will obviously flatten battery), We have used one for drinks etc. all through the...

    Putting on weight

I have been in the same position re weight and without appearing to hard, there is only one answer. Eat less, especially less of the wrong foods. If you are putting on weight, your body is not using all you eat.

High B/G levels after eating eggs for breakfast???

Not foolish, it is good to check every type of food to see how it affects you. Foods affect all of us differently. I eat a lot of eggs as we have our own chickens. They have no abnormal affect on me so I would keep eating them.

I think I may have reversed my Type 2 diabetes !!!!!!

"she said that " you are and always will be diabetic, there is no cure" anybody have any thoughts, I was so disheartened." I had exactly the same type of comments from my diabetic nurse. Then I went on a 1 day introduction course and spoke to the nurses there. They stated the opposite. Although...

Is there ANY bread that I can eat ?

Make your own bread and you can then see exactly what goes into it. We do this and it doesn't affect me too badly. Potatoes are my worst enemy which is sad becasue I love them. Substitute squash which is a good alternative.

Low carb diet and that all inclusive holiday

I had an all inclusive holiday in December. Caused no problems at all. The only problem is that there is usually so much food there that you may be tempted to just have too much. Asothers have said, plenty of salads and watch the carbs and fat etc and you'll have no problems.

    A chocolate problem.

I also cannot see how chocolate has reduced the blood sugar levels. It should have the opposite effect and slowly increase them. If chocolate reduced blood sugar, we could all take it instead of that awful Metformin. If your bloods went down to 3.3 there was another reason. Had you been drinking...

Type 2 thinking of Low Carbing

I lost 6 stone last year and my HbA1c is now 5.6. I have cut the potatoes right down but still have sensible portions of basmati rice or pasta. I have increased heavily on veg, lentils, beans and pulses. Books by Antony Worrall Thompson (diabetes and low GI), other GI diet books and the...

    Should I feel ill?

Many people who are newly diagnosed do not feel actually ill and it comes as quite a shock to be told that you have diabetes. I told my doctor and nurse that I would beat it but was warned that this was not really possible,. Well I may still have it but I am beating it. I have lost 6 stone by...
