    Alcohol and blood sugar experiment

Hi WAGR57, I recently found that some Italian bottled beers (Birra Morretti & Peroni) in moderation have minimal effect on my BG (using Libre sensor). But the Birra in cans same volume, with same meal spiked me for over 2 hours. I’m thinking it’s the pilsner types in bottles that are better. I’m...

    Help Finding Article

I’ve searched Jenny Ruhl but it isn’t the same article. Sorry, my age means I can’t remember much these days...... There were two links in the thread and I remember the article explaining the pancreas is supposed to fine tune the system with small amounts of insulin, but instead it is splurting...

    Help Finding Article

It was linked into a thread on here, a couple of articles. It was fascinating and I was looking to use it to explain my situation with work. It basically explained the normal response of the pancreas, as apposed to someone with diabetes/insulin resistance, where it is on a constant...

    Help Finding Article

Hi, I hope someone can point me to an article I read on here some time back. I believe it was a female writer explaining the rollercoaster ride of her pancreas whilst suffering from severe insulin resistance. Thanks in advance Daren

    "The Truth About Carbs"?

[emoji23] I’m glad they didn’t suggest everyone starts taking un-modified potato starch in their diet. My son begs me not to use it.....

    Carnivore Diet

Hi Terrytiddy, sorry for the delay in replying. LCHF was okay when traveling as you can load up at breakfast and go for grills with veg if you get time to stop for a proper lunch. I find the Carnivore diet harder and have to pre-pack food for trips away or I end up not eating and living on...

    Carnivore Diet

Thanks for the prompt replies. I do understand but I travel around the UK, Ireland and occasionally Europe and can be away from home for 3-4 consecutive days. LCHF was doable but Carnivore makes it much harder. I was hoping that I could do just meat while not away and LCHF when away, but if...

    Carnivore Diet

Shortly after commencing the LCHF diet, the symptoms I was suffering with, brain fog, fatigue, joint pain etc. began to improve. Since being able to tolerate certain carbohydrates due to further weight loss and including these in my diet, these symptoms have returned and have recently become...

    Type 2 Beer

Be careful of other bottled real ales, I’d stick with Resolution. I’ve tried quite a few cask ales with no issues. Can’t do lager or cider at all!!

    Unexpected dip in inflamation.

Although I have reversed my T2D to some extent and increased certain carbs, my joints have gone back to before LCHF and I now can’t rely on BG. I have therefore started the Carnivore Diet and will start to add foods back in and see how they affect these symptoms. Recently got quite bad again...

Type 2 Anyone on this forum that has reversed/controlled their diabetes without going very low carb?

I found cooking, cooling and refrigerating rice and pasta, then microwaving had a lesser effect on my BG. The same with roast potatoes and chips. Par boil and allow to go cold then roast/fry in lard. Delicious, but be careful, adding more carbs back into your diet can make you start craving them...

Type 2 Cold Feet and smooth legs

My feet started to become cold only this winter. Like a burning cold, but only during the day. Evenings and nighttime they were fine. My job is very sedentary, sitting in a car, meeting or in front of a computer, so I started walking a lot more and that seems to help

    Bulletproof?

I do a BP hot chocolate, Almond Milk, raw cacao, cinnamon, butter, coconut oil and a small amount of 90% dark chocolate for added sweetness. Warm it up in a pan and then blend. Very creamy and great during the recent cold spells.

    LCHF and intermittent fasting

Meat and two veg, larger portion of meat and lots of butter. One the fasting, should you just drink water or can you use cordial. I use Squashed from Robinson’s but it does up my BG very slightly. I have given up caffeine, so tea and coffee are a no go.

    Squeezing finger

My daughter was telling me this at Christmas. She started her nursing degree last September and was watching me try to get a drop of blood and told me not to squeeze my finger, for the reason stated. Told me to warm hands and hold finger downwards. I still struggle to get blood tho.....
