Antibody tests - what do the results mean?

Yes my work are being really good too luckily. One point to note - I went to screening straight from work wearing dress and tights. The checks they do include ecg (wires on chest wrists and ankles) so trousers and a top might be a better option!! ;)

First ever insulin injection - please help!

Not sure if this will help but hopefully a little! I was diagnosed in August so still getting into the swing of things. - my basal insulin always stings/hurts more than bolus - I’m on lantus - sometimes I bleed - seems to be random and I think it’s if you happen to hit a capillary (so just...

Dark circles under the eyes! Really?

Would love to blame mine on the t1, but suspect lack of sleep / 2 cheeky monkey children / work stress a more likely culprit!! [emoji209][emoji209]

Antibody tests - what do the results mean?

This is a smaller trial following studies in the USA (I think!) a couple of years ago that showed promising results. 13 subjects for 6months, no placebo. Weekly injections with 3monthly blood checks for a year. As mentioned concept being that this could block the antibodies attacks against the...

Antibody tests - what do the results mean?

Waiting to see if I’m suitable as initial diagnosis antibodies test was negative. I know they test for a wider range of antibodies in this screening and I’ll need to be positive for two to be eligible. If i am eligible then I think I will. Given the drug is already licensed and in use for...

    Type 1 Sleep/ stress

Assuming it’s not BG related - I have a lavender pillow spray which I like. I find stress impacts my sleep loads and am still working out how to manage it. Fail miserably at the no screens in the bedroom rule ;)

    Hypos

I’m t1 so not sure if it’s different but I was told some fast acting glucose (like jelly babies or glucose tabs) and follow up (if you’re not near a planned meal) with some slower release carbs like a digestive or piece of bread. Hope this helps

    Cinema treats

Just at cinema with my boys and feeling a bit hard done by. Was going to get some treats and bolus but all the bags of chicks are massive and I don’t know how to estimate portion size on popcorn. What do others do for treats in this sort of situation when not meant to bring own food?! Thanks!

    Access to Diabetes Management Supplies

At then moment dvla (government driving authority) does not recognise cgm so you’d still have to finger prick before driving. And Altho libre is theoretically available from 1st November, from posts I’ve seen on here I don’t think any ccgs have approved it as yet. Hope that helps.

    Need advice anyone c

I’m newly diagnosed t1 and had an occ health review. The nurse I spoke to told me any absence relating to my diabetes should be managed separately and should not lead to disciplinary action as it’s covered by the disability act (or whatever it’s been replaced with). So I’d def check this with...

    Bleeding after injecting insulin

I wasn’t told about injecting in arm. Would be handy when wearing a dress at my desk and won’t want to wander off to loos! Is it just in fatty bit (bingo wing so to speak!)?

    Bleeding after injecting insulin

I’m the same. I guessed it’s because (typically) my lantus is a larger dose than my fast acting (I’m on novorapid). Or maybe it’s just a stingy sort of thing anyway! ;)

Type 2 Please Help: Pregnant and cant control sugars

HELP, I just found out my mum has type 1 and I dont know how to help.

Well done on such a supportive response that will be helping even if it doesn’t feel like it! Has she been given details of a diabetes nurse or any appts? I’m in wakefield and the centre and staff at pinderfields have been great to me - not sure if you can ask where to be assigned but thought it...
