Anyone on the Ascend Plus trial?

After posting on May 31st, I had 'the runs' constantly for 4 days. No, i did not eat or drink anything different to my wife, who remained resolutely normal. I rang the Ascend Plus helpline and spoke to a clinician, who after 15 minutes or more of consultation, decided I end the trial. For the...

Anyone on the Ascend Plus trial?

I have just finished my first bottle of the 7mg run in tablets, and for the past week i have had the most horrible 'washing machine' stomach. Nothing in the previous 7 weeks, no nausea, no constipation, nothing then bam..... I start the second bottle of 7mg tomorrow, and I'm not looking...

    Desmond Course

I went on my Desmonds course 1 year ago this week, and I think i've just gotten over it. As Rachox says, we introduced ourselves, there was another chap on it from the same surgery as myself. All went swimmingly, some bits interesting, others not, obviously the nurses were working to a script...

    Medication dropped and feeling rough.

Thanks for the reply Sid, I have just back from the surgery, and the DN says I have been reduced to 1 Metformin because "you are well in the guidelines for 1 tablet, with your last bloods, and I cannot overprescribe." She gave me a meter, bless. Tested my BG at 5.6 and said I am tired because I...

    Medication dropped and feeling rough.

Hi to you all, I had my last lot of bloods done in August 2012, and was told I am progressing nicely. Imagine my surprise last Monday to find an answer phone message from my clinic saying "they have reviewed my bloods and have decided to drop my metformin from 2 a day to 1 at breakfast." This...

    Hot Chocolate

I have to say this a real lifeline, I was missing my evening cuppa. My morning glucose is down to mid 4's from mid 5's, made with water, a real bonus...........maybe. And I too am using Bournville

    1st Hba1c test results

Thanks Mary, I have a machine for testing, but use it only when I feel "off". As with all type 2's in this area, we get no free strips, so it is a cost issue, I prefer to save mine and use the practices when I attend. Paul

    1st Hba1c test results

Went on Monday for the test and results today from the nurse, she says I have a reading of 6.9, which she explained is under the NHS guideline of 7. But as I have no previous test I don't know how I am trending. So should I be pleased or not? Also told me my triglycerides were high (no figure...

Reading of 2.7 on my meter

Thanks for the reply LGC, the reading was at 15:30, I had 2 slices of granary bread with lean ham, tomato, cucumber and lettuce sandwiches at 13:00, followed by a large orange and a raspberry muller light yoghurt (low fat), swilled down with a small cup of black decaf coffee. Nothing unusual...

Reading of 2.7 on my meter

Evening all, type 2 on 500mg Metformin twice a day. This afternoon I noticed I was having trouble focussing on the newspaper, so I cleaned my glasses. After persisting for another 10 minutes I thought "maybe its the betes" so I tested myself and had a reading of 2.7 millimols (?). Had an early...
