How do you cope with carbs after remission?

I have found I can eat quite a few carbs and have normal results (usually 5's at two hours sometimes 6s though). I'm still careful though and am probably under 50g 5 days a week. I was away on holiday for my birthday recently and basically went off the wagon for a week and a half. When I got...

A T2, Libre self funding, "What is going on?" thread with keto

I am much more inclined to believe the exercise bumps, I suspect some of the bump is heat related though and waiting for an hour to scan seems to reduce whatever I see. Hope the libre helps you find some things you can change up. The one thing it did help me with initially was with really...

A T2, Libre self funding, "What is going on?" thread with keto

Yes I don't believe the temperature related readings. If I scan right after a shower I see the bump. If I wait an hour I can barely see it. I think the software on the scanner corrects it but suspect it works differently once in the reader as it clears from the sensor. I found a really...

A T2, Libre self funding, "What is going on?" thread with keto

I check in here every once and a while but have a few libre thoughts/observations to pass on. Since my initial diagnosis a couple years ago all my hba1s have been back to normal. I wore a few libres over the first year but they quickly got boring as they were mostly straight lines (except for...

Confused by BG readings after blowout!

I am similar to you as to having lost some weight and my hba1c diagnosis level. I have found my BG doesn't really do much when I eat a large amount of carbs on occasion. e.g. 5.4 before eating half a pizza a 'spike' to 7 after an hour and down to 5.2 at two hours and then into the 4s overnight...

    Reversing type 2 diabetes

Some people can go back to eating more normally. I have found I can eat large portions of carbs and my BG stays well within normal limits. However, I am well and truly adjusted to low carb and feel better without the ups and downs carbs give me. If I have over about 40g of carbs at a time I get...

Newly Diagnosed, trying LCHF and exercise.

You are doing everything right. The hard part will be waiting for results but sounds like they will be coming!

Gradually introducing a few more carbs

You are not going to win over diabetes! You can find something that works for you though but that may not be the same as what works for someone else. I actually don't miss pizza nearly as much as I used to. I really like my fat head pizza I do with mushrooms and sausage. I can eat normal pizza...

    How low do you go?

I'm am often around 30g (5-6 days a week) which I find quite easy (carbs come from nuts, seeds and veg) but will occasionally go a fair bit beyond that to 50-150. But, I am in maintenance mode and do quite a bit of intensive exercise and was quite good about keeping it to 30g earlier on.

Gradually introducing a few more carbs

I have found the same, I can eat things I thought were a no go and am fine. I also found my BG seemed to drop even lower than normal for about 12 hours after I had a bigger than normal amount of carbs. I was going to start eating more carbs regularly to see how things went (I have a theory it...

    Type 2 Beer

Well done! The only way to know is to test. For me alcohol lowers my BG but beer gives me a small rise so I have it on occasion.

Maintenance - Adding some carbs back

I guess I am experimenting a bit here and following up on the observation of my BG dropping for a while after eating carbs to try and get it lower still. While I know I am at a perfectly fine level my primary motivation comes from how I manage this long term. I am 48 now and this isn’t going...

Maintenance - Adding some carbs back

I read about the short increase. I Yes. I could be wrong about PIR but I suspect it is happening. My overall my BG levels are quite flat during the day on a libre but I am still getting HBA1Cs in the upper 30s. To get to the low 30s I will have to drop that overall flat line a bit, it is not...

Maintenance - Adding some carbs back

I have been on <50g a day for 9 months now combined with regular running and resistance training. My weight has been steady for about 6 months although in the last six months I still lost a bit of fat and put on some muscle (overall weight is unchanged). I don’t really have much fat left to...

Weight loss v BG reduction on LCHF

Interesting situation and I have been thinking a lot about ‘maintenance’ recently and am thinking I may need to change up my LCHF approach a bit. I have been on <50g a day for 9 months now combined with regular running and resistance training. My weight has been steady for about 6 months...

LCHF impact on fasting BG - How long must I wait?

Off to a good start! Keto is very sustainable and the reality is diabetes will not go away so best to think about doing diet long term. It does get much easier though and it works. I had a rough time the first few months. Fasting levels can take a while to drop and it is different for...

Type 2 Is it possible to reduce HbA1c levels by losing weight ANYWAY u can

You may not need to give these things up forever, it depends. I remember thinking there were a lot of things I would never be able to eat again. Turns out that is not the case. I didn’t have that much weight to lose but lost it and kept very low carb for about 6 months. I have now been...

    Low carb beer?

Test! I love good hoppy high carb IPAs! I gave them up when I went really low carb. After about 9 months I have been testing and eating things I had given up to see what they do to me. I already knew low carb alcohol dropped my BG. Now it looks like good beer only does a very mild increase to...
