Desmond course - 6 month follow up?

Went along today, wasn't as terrible as I was expecting but left me feeling glad I'd sought out information myself and found this site. Sadly was a few times where I had to bite my tongue. Basically an informal chat lasting an hour, most of the time spent reviewing what was said on the desmond...

Desmond course - 6 month follow up?

Thnaks all, I'm off work on Tuesday to go househunting anyway, so may as well head along and see what is said. Don't plan to be argumentative but can be honest about my experiences. Had been thinking about the people I'd met on previous course and think a few would be interested, although was...

Desmond course - 6 month follow up?

If I thought that would be productive I would be glad to do that but based on the original course I feel it would be wasting everyone elses time and potentially confusing. Not sure how others feel about the course but I found it quite negative, from the start T2 was described as chronic and...

Desmond course - 6 month follow up?

Thanks, will ring and cancel tomorrow. Was first time I've ever heard of follow-up after 6 months. Ordinarily "No" would have been my initial thought but my interactions with everyone except DN since diagnosis has been a real eye opener. Been fortunate to have had minimal interaction with my...

Low Carb diet with Low FAT instead,

For me, I've found eating under 20g carbs with around 2/3 protein 1/3 fat works very well for me but not sure if it would suit others. I tend to eat mostly meat, dairy, green veg and nuts sticking to similar meals most days. Spent a few months changing my habits and been doing this for around...

Desmond course - 6 month follow up?

Received a letter earlier in the week telling me I have an appointment on Tuesday for a 6 month follow up to the Desmond course. I've never heard anyone here mention or discuss such a thing, would anyone know what I should expect? I was diagnosed at the end of August with an hba1c over 100...

    HBA1C - 108 August - 36 March

Nurse has been great, very supportive and interested in what I've been doing. First visit I got what sounds like the typical advice given but both visits since then mentioned how been cutting carbs and got encouragement and some sound advice. Was on metformin twice a day, agreed to cut that down...

    HBA1C - 108 August - 36 March

Wanted to says thanks again to everyone here, doubt I'd have anywhere near the level of control I have today without this site and the wealth of advice people have offered. Diagnosed late August, wasn't told at the time but found out a few months later during Desmond course by hba1c was 108 at...

SD Codefree - keeps losing time sync

I had an SD Codefree meter which would lose time, replacing the battery and ensuring the replacement was a good fit fixed the issue for me. The loss of time was quite random, some days no time would be lost, other days would lose a couple of hours over the course of a day.

    Lost my first libre sensor

Think I'm cursed, nothing has went right for me this week at all. Had actually went for a walk to buy some tubular bandages as had none at home. Just after posting my last reply my father appeared on my doorstep. Haven't seen him in weeks but he was nearby visiting his sister who has just turned...

    Lost my first libre sensor

The coat is quite loose fitting. I can't see how it would have got caught in the sleeve and I can't find it. The backs of my arms are quite flabby haven't see anything suggesting this would be an issue but really reluctant to try the other sensor. Thinking back I didn't feel much if any pain...

    Lost my first libre sensor

Recently bought a libre starter kit. Applied the sensor following the instructions this afternoon, waited around an hour before activating it then put coat on and went for a walk. Got home and was about to try to take my first reading when I noticed it was missing. Checked everywhere, retraced...

Anyone here got/used an Accuchek Performa Nano?

I've used an Accu-chek Nano, as well as the SD Codefree and Accu-Chek Mobile devices. I found results general consistent across all three devices with the SD Codefree perhaps giving slightly higher readings. The nano is small and the accu-chek fastclix lancing device works great. Comes with a...

    Weekly weigh in - Fridays

332 lb this morning. Was 383 lb at diagnosis (Aug 26), so just over 50 lb in 90 days. Still a long way to go but results been better than I could have hoped for.

    Type 2 BG after meal

I'd be interested if anyone has had a different experience but I've tried a few different meters and found the codefree meter performs just as well as others. The main difference being additional features such as bluetooth or cartridges instead of individual strips.

Why is the Low Carb programme No Longer Free?

Disappointed this wasn't made clear in the invite I received in early October. I didn't sign up then as I wanted to find my feet first and seems I've missed the cut-off. The money isn't an issue, I'd had have happily made a donation but no mention of a fee when signing up, people still with...

Never tried it but apparently 7-up combined with Milk has been popular in some parts of the world for decades. Had a friend whose family would swear by it as a cure for an upset stomach.

How often should you check HbA1C

No problem, should have added that I have no real feel for how accurate the estimate is, my hba1c was 104 at diagnosis early August, 51 two/three weeks ago and currently my estimate is 34 with my blood sugar ending to be in the low 5's. Logging functionality of App is easy to use, can log a...

How often should you check HbA1C

Not sure if this is the same method but the MySugr app provides an estimated A1c value if you log 21 readings in a 7 day period. App is free and fully functional but has a subscription for additional reports, photos, etc. I've found the app useful, although wish it was a bit more flexible, paid...
