    Tested positive for CV-19

I'm not diabetic, but live with and support my 87 year old mum who is T1. I had covid end of March (no tests available then, but GPs thought it likely) and it definitely had a yo-yo effect for me; I kept thinking I was better and then it would come back again over and over, especially at my time...

Covid/Coronavirus and diabetes - the numbers

I agree with this. My mum is very sensitive to insulin. She also seems to do better when unwell if she has a higher blood sugar. She is an older person (over 80) with Type 1 (diagnosed age 50 as Type 2) Also I don't know if this is relevant but she has almost never has high ketones.

    The LibreLink Lie

I spent ages trying to find a cheap phone that worked for this, and eventually got the Vodafone N8 which was less than £100 and LibreLink works really well on that.

Stress - Constant high blood sugars

Increase basal? Diabetic Nurse Team might help? Sorry if you have thought of this already. Do you have a FreeStyle Libre? I would really recommend that because then you will actually see what's going on with your sugar levels xxx good luck with the wedding! X

LADA/Type 1.5? What do we know?

I tried to read this article but it costs a lot of money to access it! (It wasn’t at the link above so I searched and found it here) : https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.3810/pgm.2005.03.1597

    FREESTYLE LIBRE ON SALE!!!!

Yes you can just download the app to your phone and use it to scan the sensor without having a reader. Your phone has to have these specifications: Android • Operating system: Android 5.0 or higher. • Near-Field Communication (NFC): Your smartphone must have NFC capabilities and NFC must...

    Cheap phone for LibreLink app

I forgot to say, sorry, that we turned off the screen lock in the phone settings. If the screen lock is on then you have to also swipe or put a pattern in or whatever first to open the phone before it will scan.

    Cheap phone for LibreLink app

Yes she checks all day and it does last for that.

    Cheap phone for LibreLink app

If the screen is dark, you have to press the power button to turn it on. Otherwise you don't have to specifically open the app, you just put it on your arm: Put the middle of the back of the phone (this is where the NFC is) onto the sensor on your arm and it beeps twice to tell you it's done...

    Cheap phone for LibreLink app

Yes the battery is poor! We just keep it plugged in overnight so not a problem. The screen brightness uses most of the power so I just press the power button to put the screen off whenever it is not being used. If you are using it a lot in the day for other things then you would definitely...

    Cheap phone for LibreLink app

As long as you hold the phone over the sensor in the right place (usually you have to touch the middle of the back of the phone onto the sensor), it works fine every time for us.

    Cheap phone for LibreLink app

I couldn't find a second hand phone with the right specs for any less than the new one! As you need quite a recent order high spec one.

    Cheap phone for LibreLink app

I just wanted to let people know this: I was searching for a compatible phone to use with the FreeStyle Libre sensor using the LibreLink app to scan it. You need a phone with NFC for this (stands for "Near Field Communication") and Android 5.0 or higher, or iPhone 7 I think, according to...

2 Day lows - what could be causing it?

Yes it does have to be shaken but I don't think that could cause this. Thanks.

2 Day lows - what could be causing it?

Thanks! x My mum is 84. She tests a lot (usually around 5 or 6 times a day) so we have a pretty good idea of what's happening. She is only meant to test twice a day - before each humalog injection - and then only change the dose after 3 days of consistent highs or lows - but she used to take...

2 Day lows - what could be causing it?

Thanks :-) No, no more exercise than usual but I'll watch out for that!

2 Day lows - what could be causing it?

My mum takes Humalog Mix 25, 9 units in the morning and 3 in the evening, with extra NovoRapid to counteract any highs. This is because she is elderly and cannot cope with too many injections in a day because calculating it all is a bit too confusing and she has memory problems so it is safer...

    Mixing Humalog Mix25

Hi! I'm a new member and posting for my mum who is 84. She has had type one diabetes for over 30 years and after using Novorapid for so long she has just started using Humalog Mix 25. I wondered if anyone had any experience of not shaking the syringe and ending up with more fast acting than long...
