Have you been told not to test your blood sugars?

I only test mine first thing in the morning 2-3 times a week or if I suspect certain foods I’ve eaten have spiked my BG. A 3 monthly hba1c won’t give me that information.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

For weeks my BG has been in the low 5s, not done every day but on average 2-3 mornings a week just to check. This morning is 7.5! But I’ve just been diagnosed with shingles……in my big toe of all places and the rash is creeping up my foot. :( My foot, ankle and lower leg are very swollen so am I...

Had to get back on the horse.

Well done on reducing your numbers! Very impressed. Sorry I’m a bit late to this post, could you stop the Dapagliflozin to be able to take mounjaro? That’s what I did :)

5.7 at 8am. Feeling really tired and would love to go back to bed but meeting a friend for a dog walk. Dull and cloudy here this morning. Have a terrific Tuesday everyone x

Anyone on the Ascend Plus trial?

I was sent the information but as I’m on Mounjaro (through the nhs) I didn’t want to risk coming off that and going on a placebo @Sally66 Did you hear on the news yesterday that you can get weight medication on the nhs now if you have a high bmi, also other health problems like diabetes, high...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

5.8 at 7:25. Had a dreadful night as in pain most of the time and too tired to get up to resolve it with painkillers but eventually got up at 3am! @Diawara our church clock is usually 2 minutes slow :joyful: Have a lovely day everyone, although very warm, there’s quite a strong breeze x

    Latest Hba1c

I’m more than joyful. In fact I’m jumping for joy around the sitting room as I’ve just read my latest Hba1c test results!

I didn't want to change my diet. I did it anyway

Hi @Irish Jenny What a great account of your journey and I follow nearly all of the people you mentioned, on YouTube. When people tell me carnivore is not sustainable I tell ‘em to go and watch Kelly Hogan (she says her only vice is a coffee every morning) on ‘My zero carb life’ as she’s been...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

5.2 at 7:23! Ha! Yes, very precise time, only because I looked up at the cooker clock as the metre was counting down from 5 :joyful: My wonderful daughter bought me 2 trees for my birthday which finally arrived yesterday. They’re already about 3m tall! She’s coming to plant them for me this...

    Enjoying fitness

@SimonP78 I’d love to and so would the dogs but being 3 stone overweight plus ongoing back surgery investigations, jogging would be the worst exercise only adding to my problems, but thank you for your kind suggestion.

Relevance of fasting blood glucose to diabetes control

I rely on my morning fasting BG as it gives me an indication of my progress and whether I’ve had too many carbs the previous day. If my insulin levels are high I don’t lose weight which I think is typical of most T2 diabetics and I need to lose weight and get my blood pressure down! As...

    Enjoying fitness

I’ve just bought a rebounder (mini trampoline) to try and get my heart rate up. I walk the dogs everyday but as it’s flat round here my heart rate never exceeds 100! Good luck with the exercises

Have you considered seeing the dentist for a gum shield to wear in the night? My daughter did this as she was getting migraines. @ChrisT2 that looks like paradise, where about in Greece are you? 5.3 @ 7:30. It’s foggy here but supposed to clear later this morning. Have a good day whatever...

    Whats in your kitchen ?

Pumpkin seeds - read that these are a better source of magnesium than taking a supplement so I rushed out and bought 2 bags :joyful:

    ‘Stop Eating After 7pm’ Challenge

Yesterday was 9pm! Only because my daughter phoned in tears to say her kitten got out and she couldn’t find her so I drove there to help. Unfortunately that meant I didn’t get home until 8:30 and hit the Carr’s crackers (as stated in my other post) and coffee with almond milk and a slosh of...

    Ozempic stopped working

I get my Mounjaro on the nhs. In fact my GP phoned and said I fit the NICE guidelines as I was going to pay for it myself. I’m overweight, have hypertension and bmi of 33 (was 35.5). Go back to your GP or see a different one and ask again is my advice. I’m what is called a ‘slow responder’ as...

    Mounjaro

Yep I’ve been on it since mid March. I’d applied to my local pharmacy to pay for it myself then I had a phone call from my GP to say I fulfilled the NICE guidelines so could have it on the nhs! @mycanal my bmi was 35.8 at that time but has now gone down to 33.5. BG is now in the 5s and...
