"It's pointless monitoring BG when type 2..."

Hi zand, Any chance you could update me with how you got on with the Freestyle Libre. My wife and I are considering doing the same thing to gain a wider appreciation of our BSL throughout the day/night and not just spot checks. Thanks.

Confused by BG readings after blowout!

Thanks to all that responded. The wealth of experience on this forum is excellent. I would really like to buy a Freestyle Libre to get a better insight into my BG variations throughout the day and after differing meals to understand better what is actually happening. What do people think about...

Confused by BG readings after blowout!

Hello Britishpub, Since my diagnosis, my alcoholic drink selection tends to be Red wine or a G&T, but I have noticed previously that having had a couple of beers, the BG reading obtained was lower than expected. As I don't drink beer very often now I didn't give it much thought, but perhaps...

Confused by BG readings after blowout!

I was diagnosed T2 in May this year (Hba1c=50). Switched to reduced carb/Mediterranean diet and 30mins exercise per day and managed to lose 17Kg over 3 months and reduce HBA1c to 35, which I'm told is remission. Over the last 3 months, my weight is stable at 75Kg and I have been slowly...

T2 Reversal In 3 Months - There Is Hope

The great thing about the change in lifestyle is that you feel so much better for it, as well as getting the HBA1C under control. We both lost about 10Kg in the first month 4Kg in the second and 3Kg in the third. We then seemed to stabilize on the weight loss which is probably down to burning...

    Help With Diet

Hi, With an HBA1C of 44 you are still in the Pre Diabetic range, so it could be worse. My wife and I were diagnosed T2 3 months ago (HBA1c 50 & 52) and have reversed that down to 35 & 33 in 3 months following a lifestyle change. Have a look at my post in this thread...

Got Rid Of Diabetes Type 2 - This Is How

Many congratulations on your success. I have to admire your exercise and diet routine. Love the big blow out! My wife and I just reversed our diagnosis in 3 months but on a reduced carb/Mediterranean diet with 30 mins exercise a day. We went for a weekend break and to celebrate I had my first...

T2 Reversal In 3 Months - There Is Hope

Wow, as if by magic, I awoke this morning to a report on BBC News that a study in the USA indicates that a low carb diet takes 4 years off your life expectancy. No comment on how many years Diabetes takes off or leg amputations, sight loss etc etc. I would love to know who funded this study. no...

T2 Reversal In 3 Months - There Is Hope

I do enjoy the low carb diet but miss a curry with some rice or some chips with my steak. I'm also slightly apprehensive of the long-term effects of low carb, hence my modified version (reduced carb/Mediterranian diet)

T2 Reversal In 3 Months - There Is Hope

Hi Rachox, I'm surprised your Dr hasn't advised a reduction in the Metformin with readings in the mid 30's.

T2 Reversal In 3 Months - There Is Hope

It does!! Problem is I am already thinking is it safe now to start introducing small portions of rice, potatoes and bread. Have you any experience of this once in remission?

T2 Reversal In 3 Months - There Is Hope

Thanks, It really has helped a lot that we were both in the same boat. I guess it would be harder if only one partner had to make the changes. I also thought it interesting that we were both diagnosed together. I guess we both had the same lifestyle and foods and both didn't exercise enough.

T2 Reversal In 3 Months - There Is Hope

My wife and I were both told we had T2 3 months ago. HBA1C's 50 & 52 respectively. It was a bit of a shock to us both I can tell you, especially after reading all the possible consequences. The Dr's advice consisted of informing your life insurance company and to take Metformin from now on. By...
