Is it possible to reverse diabetes?

Sorry I wasn’t being very clear what I meant to say was is this the same for someone with Prediabetes? As in could insulin resistance return to normal? I agree I can’t imagine going back to a high sugar/ carb diet either! Thanks

Is it possible to reverse diabetes?

Thank you I was just joking about stuffing my face with chocolate (in my dreams haha) but I just wanted to know if once you have a problem with carbs etc is that a problem for life? I understand if I lost 5 stone and then stuffed my face with chocolate I would put weight back on anyway but just...

    5.9 Blood Test

This is totally appalling advice by GP. Nice guidelines say if you have a fasting blood test above 5.6 (this would include before meals) you have gestational diabetes! Where are you based and do you have a midwife? Ask the midwife and insist on being referred to local outpatients hospital for...

Is it possible to reverse diabetes?

So I have a question. I am not actually classed as ‘diabetic’. Last hba1c was 40. I recently had gestational diabetes. I have been testing levels and I would say I’m pretty borderline. I definitely can not tolerate a lot of carbs very well and therefore adopting a LCHF diet to lose weight and...

    5.9 Blood Test

Sorry but those numbers indicate you might have gestational diabetes. It is unlikely you have diabetes normally though. I am post partum and had gestational diabetes and our targets are normally under 7 or 7:8 1 hour after eating. If you are going by 2 hours then under 6.4 as when pregnant the...

    High levels after eating

Thank you. I’m due an Hba1 not a GTT. I’m trying to eat low carb. I also wonder does this mean I’ll always have a slow insulin response or could this change if I lose weight and control my levels etc? Thank you

Hi I recently had gestational diabetes. My son is now nearly 6 months old and I am due for an HBA1c. Before I was pregnant inhad one with a result of 40 and a previous year it was 39 so the top end of ‘normal’. Levels were pretty bad when pregnant. Recently I have been testing levels to see...

    Please help - advice needed

Thanks for all your advice do you think I do have type 2 from the levels I’ve mentioned? I tend to only go up by about 1-1.5 whatever I eat after any meals. Surely the number is still important like if I was getting 10s and 11s that would indicate diabetes? Thanks Anna

Thanks so much. I mean this morning I tested and got 6.9/6.7 had breakfast of 1 slice soya and linseed toast with crunchy peanut butter and a handful of raspberries (I tend to have my carbs at breakfast time) and I got a 7.2 about an hour and half later. Didn’t rest at 2 hours just because I was...

    Please help - advice needed

Hi I’m new to this forum. I am currently 3 weeks post partum. So last August I had a random Hba1c literally 2 weeks before falling pregnant with a result of 41. Previous year it had been 40 (although no one told me either of the results just said within normal range but very high normal!)...
