    Dexcom ONE sensor code ?

You need to calibrate 2 x. I cheat and do one finger stick and enter the same number 2x. Then the numbers match and stay aligned for the day till pre-bed calibration. I’m using a G5 transmitter with a DexcomOne sensor. Just don’t enter the calibration code “skip code” and it works fine.

Sensors - Libre sensor 2 and Guardian sensor 4

The CGMs are a great advance, I’ve used both. The Libre still requires you to swipe with the phone. Dexcom sends to your phone all the time. Currently if most areas you need to pay for a G6 but can get a basic CGM on the NHS. I have used the Tandem TSlim and Dexcom for years. It’s much more...

A little more info on Apple's attempts to develop a non invasive monitor

Apple have a patient for a watch based CGM. However, to date, skin sensing is not as accurate as interstitial fluid so is not used for treatment decisions; perhaps OK for Type II not using insulin.

    Alternatives to Libre 2

I’ve worked with regulated medical devices for 30 years. The list of supported Android phone is usually curtailed as they need testing for every new software (OS) release. Android device firmware varies considerably so device manufacturers only approve the currently most popular as testing takes...

Hi does anyone suffer with a really bad burning stomach?

As well as Gatroparesis you could consider having a H.pylori test. This is a very common gut bacteria that causes burning stomach, heart burn, slow digestion. Also belching especially if your glucose is high and the bacteria have a fart party. Some centres can use a breath test; most...

    Freestyle libre sensor issues

Libre is a good thing but I’m finding Dexcom better. Libre 2 has been announced almost 9 months ago and still not shipping in the UK. I too found the results way out of what with BGM sometimes when I’m Libre. Dexcom seems more consistent (allowing for the 20 min lag between blood and...

    Best day so far!

Well done ;-). I’ve had a couple of perfect days since on the Dexcom G6. Average is now in the 90% range when connected with the Tandem pump. ;-)

    Medtronic replacement pump warranty

It remains the same. So if the new pumps was a 4 year warranty then that’s your timeline. A replacement pump doesn’t start a new warranty period; Your still up for a new one four years after you originally started. I swapped Medtronic for Tandem last week. So far it’s great!

    Cannula insertion site getting sore

Certainly Medtronic recommend a set change at 2 days. This is based on a clinical study and not related to a specific vendor. Also it will depend what insulin you are using; the excipients are different.

    Back in the day!!!!!!!!

I’ve only had 5 major hypos in over 40 years and nothing for about 15 years. 1. I was on a high school trip from Mkt Harborough to London for a classical music event with Andre Previn. I was so low on the train back I vomited over my girlfriend and most of the carriage before being...

    Back in the day!!!!!!!!

Yes and it hurt every day x 2. I was four when I was diagnosed and I’d hate to be “stabbing” my little one with one of those! How we have moved on in so few years. (Well 40 + years )

    Back in the day!!!!!!!!

Had one of those ;-). Worked quite well. I believe they were made by Owen Mumford who also made the AutoLet in a 3 fold case with no where for the “BM” ( Boehringer Mannheim ) strips. LOL.

    Back in the day!!!!!!!!

Great memories ( or not so great ). Been type one since 1977, a test pilot for u100, a computerised dose calculator and yes that was DOS with a huge desktop PC from the university, first insulin pump in 1986 ( Nordisk Infuser ); you could change the dose with a screwdriver and the butterfly...

    Back in the day!!!!!!!!

I’ve been type one since 1977. Food was awful and “diabetic food”. Remains awful ( and a con ). I do miss Jackson’s of Devon diabetic sweets though! They were tasty and I’d finish a pack in an afternoon and spend the night by the lavatory!

    Burnout

I had a similar scenario a couple of weeks ago when my annoying cold, after an exhausting 2 day trip to Boston MA, developed into Bacterial Sinusitus. 3 AM Saturday visit to Huntingdon “Walk In” Clinic that I can’t just walk in to = A&E. Very nice Dr understood that I could deal with the...

    Pump When Flying

I fly most weeks and don’t disconnect. The cabins are pressurised and you are essentially on a closed circuit ( fluid logic prevails ). I work in drug delivery technology and can’t think this would ever be an issue. If you are in a jet fighter and a pressure suit it might be different...

    Insurance For Pump

Put it on your home / contents insurance as a named item and make sure it is covered for home and away ( not the TV series - just for accident / loss out of your home - cheaper than a separate Pollicy).

    Holiday Pump Or Injections

I keep with the pump. You should be OK for an hour perhaps a bit longer off the pump but keep checking your sugars and adjust as needed. Avoid dose staking for any correction insulin. Also if you’re off somewhere hot / drinking or active remember insulin sensitivity will increase and you...

How Much Insulin (novorapid And Levemir) For How Many Carbs

Talk with your DSN; Insulin resistance varies by person, especially in Type II and you need a DSN or your Dr to advise you.
