    Re: Did any of you type 1s have a virus before you got diabe I had flu (was 8 at the time) .... Ended up being very poorly and being rushed into hospital after a week as the first doc missed the diabetes every time he was called out and kept saying I just had flu and I'd be ok in a few days...

    What meter/monitor do you use?

    Time off work for Dr and hospital appointments?

    I've never worked anywhere that has had a problem with me taking as much time asi need for appointments :-). If I can't get an early morning appointment I'm also able to work from home for the rest of the day to save on travelling, Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    how high and how low have you been?

    Not sure on highest ... High 20's but probably higher when I was first diagnosed. Lowest (according to the paramedic who spoke to the doc as he wheeled me into A&E) was 0.9 - not a great night! Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Test strip allowance,

    I've had similar issues in the past - worst was being told I should only need one box of 50 strips per month (@1.5 tests per day!) Now, whenever I change meters, I ask the dr or nurse at the hospital to write to my GP explaining how many I will actually need ... and I've never had the problem...

    Under active thyroid

    I was diagnosed type 1 in 78, under active thyroid in 99 and pernicious anaemia in 09 ... all auto immune conditions and hoping three will be my lot! Sent from Diabetes.co.uk Forum App
